Going to my first DOA show next month! I’ve heard great things but never been. Hoping to make it a regular thing since the shows are on Saturday nights. I like the sound of a low key, smaller show focusing on the local guys. Prestige shows are fun, but they can be a bit claustrophobic and intense live haha

 

Yeah I'm curious how different the vibes are. I know I'm mostly projecting my own observations of going to Defy and SOS/321 shows onto the Portland scene

In other news I've gotten myself bummed out on the demise of 321 again. Like I know based on what happened it kinda had to die (and honestly, not sure it would've survived covid regardless given SOS had to move) but it was such a special place that captured everything I love about wrestling

 

he follows Bernie Sanders and John Oliver too, and unfortunately Bari Weiss. No clue what Trent's politics are so not a defense of him specifically but I don't think everyone follows twitter accounts with the idea that they agree with and support everything they follow. Looking at accounts I follow that also follow Jordan Peterson, there are people from around the political spectrum.

ideally no one would care about being up to date with anything Jordan Peterson is up to tho

For reference the last NJPW show in this arena in San Jose with Okada, Jay White and Will Ospreay sold only around 1600 tickets.

I'd argue that Jurassic Express' lack of defining personality besides them having been longstanding underdogs was a bigger constraint to a long title run - than them being inexperienced. I don't disagree that The Acclaimed are still green, especially working longer matches as a title holder, but I think they have a lot more personality to give them the screen time the tag title holders deserve.

 

After this week, I want to formally make a public mea culpa.

While Jay Lethal still has done unsavory things in wrestling.

...and Jeff Jarrett really should be just focusing on live event booking/planning...

...those dudes put together two great, southern-assed tag team matches this week with the Acclaimed and I loved them.

Also anyone with a toddler has probably seen them chomp on a lemon like it's any other less sour fruit. Usually instead of an actual healthy, balanced meal you'd spent ages planning and preparing.
