Where'd everyone end up with mileage/time/other running stats this year?

    Regular

2530km, someway behind my 2020 lockdown best but injuries have taken their toll - now doing regular strengthening exercised so hopefully won't have that issue next year...

Apparently 300 miles. Did two halves. Shaved 17+ minutes off the second from the first.

Here’s mine. Grateful for a good year of health and fitness, and for a lot of big accomplishments. Onward!

Looks like a good year for most!

I wish I had screen shot that specific Strava screen yesterday as it reset today. But here’s what I have for 2022. My best year running so far since picking up the sport in 2017.

very thankful as well for really not a single running injury all year. I had some strong races too. PR’d my 50k 2 times for 5:04 at the best. Won a 50k. Won a 25k last night on NYE. Crushed my 50mile PR at 9:05. Fastest 5k at 19:46. Most milage ever. What a year!

came up short of my 2k mileage goal. finished the year with 1,972 due to this stupid nagging high quad strain i've had since november.

my highest mileage year in 15 years tho

@Craig Manning sorry if you shared this previously and/or if you don’t wish to share I’m totally ok with that or if you wish to DM me feel free - what training plan did you follow (or mostly follow) are you tried (and did) achieve a BQ? I’m likely going to use Hal Higdon’s 18/70 plan that seems pretty popular for the Grandma’s Marathon in June. Ramping up mileage until the plan starts the week of 2/12 and may trial a few of the first couple weeks before that to see how it goes.

It the 40th anniversary for my hometown marathon, so they did a bunch of cool things to celebrate, one of which was hiring Olympian Jared Ward to prepare an 18-week training plan rubric that anyone registered for the marathon could access and use. So I followed that last year and will probably modify it as I train up for another marathon this spring. I still have the PDF files if you'd like to take a look. There were also weekly coaching videos to help along the way, but I don't have those.

Does Higdon have a 70-mile plan? I ask because when I was looking for training plans last year, it didn't look like his had quite the mileage ceiling I was looking for, but I liked his approach especially for a first marathon.

sorry, I was confusing Higdon with Pfitzinger plans. The Pfitzinger plan is the 18/70 one I referenced in my post. Not sure if Higdon has one that goes to 70 but after googling this morning I didn’t find one.

I think the most miles I've ever run in a week was 33. 70 would be so much.

Ahh gotcha, I figured that was the case. fwiw Pfitzinger was the one I ended up going with and I loved it, pretty challenging but very straightforward and easy to follow.

id have to look but I think I did back to back weeks at 55 miles each and it was 6 days a week each of those weeks and I’m not sure I accomplished anything else that week (besides showering, eating, sleeping, foam rolling) lol

I’m just too slow of a runner to put that much time in in a week, I think. Those eight 30-33 mile weeks I did before my taper consumed all my non-working waking moments as it was!

I think I topped out in the low 80s for weekly mileage. Did a few weeks of that. I remember eating like five meals a day during those weeks.

for those of you that have had covid, how long did it take for you to get fully back? i just got it for the first time on thursday. had pretty bad symptoms for two days but now just congestion and slight cough. don't feel like i'll be running for another few days.

6-8 weeks for energy levels to get back to even close to normal. but I ran a PR half three months afterwards, too. it’ll depend on how much it wrecks your lungs.

I had covid twice in 2022 and I’d say I was back to normal in about 2-3 weeks. I got the Moderna vaccine, not sure if that matters, and can’t remember if I was vaxxed and boosted when I got it the second time or just vaxxed. Didn’t have super bad symptoms for either case, main thing was just super fatigued and wiped out. Second time around also had a cough, and did no exercise for about 7-10 days and from there within 2-3 weeks I think my energy was fully back and experienced no issues with getting back to where I was.

    Regular

I had very mild Covid and ran through it (5am runs when nobody was out). Probably not wise and probably didn't help recovery as it dragged on as a light illness for weeks.

where would i be if i was my brain Prestigious

I ran when I first had symptoms of covid last year. i thought it was just a head cold so i ran hard to try to cough it up essentially.

thankfully it wasn't when fatigue set in. oh and no one was near me either.

I’m not vaxxed at all. Had Covid about a year ago. Didn’t run for the 2 days I felt icky. On the 3rd day I forced myself out and was able to get in about 30 miles that week without much problem.

Was sick 2 weeks ago. About the same story. 2 days off. Still 30 miles for the week(4.5 hours of running. Mostly trail.). Was able to get a harder 25k effort in on that next Saturday. I’ve had a bit of lingering dry cough, but I’m fine overall.

I know it all affects people different.
