i know what you meant. there's a part in strafford, right after the crackly vocal part towards the end, he waits an extra few bars to come in with the vocals. and in that in between part, there's this little piano line that is so fucking beautiful. it's small, but it's one of my favorite parts of that song.

so many little things to uncover here.

If you're going to criticize this, that's cool. At least elaborate so we can generate discussion.

Strafford is full of shit like that.

I thought the sound after the

"motor up and yeah, you’re own
    and yeah
    you’re on your own"

part was just a random noise effect

    He actually sings:
    (marijuana has you talkin'…)

Dude, YES. This is my AOTY but Cardinal is my 2nd. Don't see anything passing either.

The melody in Aphasia is just so great

Strafford is greatest song about love and weed. "Paramiiiiiind, paramiiiiiind"

And that's why you always leave a note.

Totally does, in the best way possible.

    S. Carey sings parts of that song too.

    paranoid mind?

I for one cannot get enough of Justins lyrics. Yeah some of them seem like nonsense but it makes it that much better for me. Same way I feel about early Aesop Rock.

Also 00000 Million's lyrics are pretty straight forward. Same thing with Creeks

yeah he has enough straight forward lyrics on his albums that you can really connect with, and then a lot of the nonsense stuff can be equally as powerful, just more open to interpretation. i'm a fan but see why some aren't.

Now having listened a few times, this album is a pretty natural progression from BI,BI. We all knew he was wading deeper into the electronica-hip hop inflected noise-folk, and his creativity is what allows him not to make a mess of that - it may sound messy on first listen, but its actually beautifully arranged and crafted music that adheres to zero boundaries of any genre. All of this would be easier to shrug off if JV and his band didn't absolutely nail it live every time.

I also love the slight plucking of the strings after every chorus part
    "A womb
    An empty robe
    Enough
    You're rolling up
    You're holding it
    You're fabric now"

I perceived it as two individuals becoming one. That's what I love about his lyrics. He creates words that give enough info for people to derive their own meaning while withholding most of that information for the lyrics to hide his personal meaning.

The difference between how I felt about Moonwater on the leak compared to the studio version is incredible. There's so much happening.

I totally agree. I already loved it the first time I heard that rip, but when I heard it the HQ version, I fell in love all over.

I actually prefer how they play it live, as they emphasize the drums a lot more which adds to bat-shit craziness of the song

ticonderoga shit is my favorite non-sequitur in music

im crying to creeks at work right now, the sequence about the second sun coming past the glass is so beautiful; "all im trying to do is get my feet up off the creek" breaks me
