I've been struggling to excercise for a week. Hormonal headaches have been kicking my butt. I've made some efforts cause I figure 10% is better than 0% but it is hard not to compare it to my usual output and feel discouraged. As a result I haven't seen the state of my gym but it's a tiny one so I hope it's not crowded. Having like 3 people in there makes it crowded lol

luckily my gym was not packed to the gills, actually less busy than usual which I didnt expect, and I was able to squat with no issues when I went after work yesterday. I even managed to snag the only stairmaster for my cardio. Going to a small private gym really helps sometimes.

I always hated that in college when I got back from break. It would usually fade after a couple weeks and then start back up again a couple weeks before spring break. I'm happy now to have a home gym that allows me to do what I need to do without really being bothered.

I took off almost a week starting Christmas Eve, and took almost all of December off from running, but I started both back on the 30th and have a 6-day running streak going (aiming for 41 days of at least a mile a day leading up to my 41st birthday). I'm also doing dry January and have already dropped 3 pounds of holiday weight.

I just broke down and ordered the adjustable dumbbells because I have a small apartment with nowhere to store multiple sets. I'm getting a little stronger and want to size up without having a zillion pairs around cause I still use light ones for certain workouts also. I'm excited! Hope they work cause reviews on a lot of brands were mid but I'm also not a srs bodybuilder or anything so hopefully they're sufficient for my needs

report back with how these turnout after a few weeks please! And a link to the ones you bought if you don’t mind. I’ve been thinking of the same thing for 6+ months now and I probably just should but some are so expensive so I talk myself out of them

Down 40 lbs to my pre-pandemic weight. Now just a few dozen lbs to go  I got extra motivated seeing the scale yesterday so I joined a gym again (sorry, regulars - I know I'm part of the annoyance lol). What's everyone's workout soundtrack rn?

Sometimes my only motivation to excercise is my cardio health score on fitbit lol. It took me like 2 years to get it from "poor" to "good" and I'm determined to keep it steady.

Also does anyone else with a fitbit ever have excercise tracking issues? Mine is blatantly wrong Sometimes. For example I start the excercise manually on my fitbit right as I'm getting on the treadmill and end it as soon as I'm done and I'll go for say 40 minutes but the ending summary on my watch will say 60 active minutes despite the fact that I literally was not on that long. It happens all the time so I feel like my data is always incorrect. I want to say I've only noticed it on treadmill workouts tho

I don’t have a Fitbit but have a Coros watch and my issue with treadmills is that it will match the distance shown on the treadmill for the first half mile to mile and after that suddenly my watch starts falling behind little by little, usually ending up with being off by a 10th of a mile to maybe 20th of a mile and then I have to manually adjust.

Some friends have also had similar issues with Apple Watch and other devices but not sure if I’ve heard of a timing issue, usually it’s always distance.

I’m sure this isn’t it but do you do a warm up before getting on the treadmill that the Fitbit logs? I know some watches / technology will start counting time once your heart rate gets over a certain beat so if you’re doing a warm up beforehand that’s the only thing I could think for why the time is off but being 20 minutes off seems way incorrect unless you really like warming up lol

Lol yeah I get distance inconsistencies too. The treadmill always says I've gone further but I figure my fitbit is maybe more accurate since they know my height and strides and stuff and the treadmill doesn't? I've found the treadmill at the gym generally says I've gone a quarter of a mile further than my fitbit does.

My warm up is usually just stretches that don't rly elevate my heart rate. I have wondered if it counted me walking to the gym but it's literally like a 2 minute walk. Typically when I start my workout it has my heart rate in the below zone so I dont think that's it. If anything i could see it updating like half an hour after my workout with more minutes since i dont always have time to do a cooldown and my heart rate is still elevated for a while after, but this is like RIGHT after i end the workout. I wonder if it is counting me tracking it manually AND what the fitbit picks up automatically? I just looked again at what it said I did yesterday for my treadmill workout and it says 67 active zone minutes but that my workout was from 1:22pm-1:59pm (that time is accurate) so idk

Edit: I just looked at the app further and it actually does differentiate between when I got off the treadmill when my heart rate was still up after the workout as something separate so I really don't know what its problem is with calculating my treadmill active minutes

    It's all hell.

I recently signed up for a 10k later this year after not not having run for over a year, and in that time have moved to a pretty hilly area of the UK, (according to Strava my avg. elevation gain is 74m each run). Does anyone have any tips on how to maintain momentum when attacking hills? I tend to get to 3k and then struggle from then on out!

(It doesn't help that I definitely ate too many pringles over the festive period)
