I remember the "discovery rights" thing being mentioned when Bale moved to the MLS, and it confuses me as much now as it did then. It is basically like the waiver wire in the NFL?

when I was young, I started out as an arsenal fan because I liked their jerseys and Thierry Henry, but over time I realized how many players I liked played for and had previously played for Chelsea, so I switched. As I got older, found more players. At this point it’s comical lol

 

I wanted to support Newcastle when I was four because I liked their kit and knew it would annoy my dad. Then my dad took me to an Arsenal game and I saw Bergkamp play and switched.

If spurs could sign a central defender that would improve the side or really any position, I think they would. de Vrij and Bastoni both turned down leaving Italy, the fee was not the issue.

It's the same issue Poch had when he wanted to change the makeup of the squad during the CL final season... Until Levy and ENIC are willing to change the wage structure, we will be stuck trying to sign cheaper, riskier deals like lamela, eriksen, vertonghen, Gil, ndombele, etc. We will try and sign 5 cheaper wage + fee players vs spending all out on a transformative player.
