I would think legal rules in the UK would stop any mention of it on Premier League broadcasts. Correct me if I'm wrong, but no formal charges were ever brought, which is why he hasn't been named explicitly anywhere in the press (despite it being obvious who the stories referred to).

I would imagine employment law would be on his side if Arsenal were to try and make him train with the reserves, given that is a team punishment with boundaries probably set out in his contract and Partey could quite credibly claim that no team rules have been broken (as it has not been proved in a court that he has done so - again, despite it being clear that he has).

I agree though, if it was my team, I'd have wanted them to sell him at the first opportunity and move on. But Arsenal are in a bit of a sticky situation with it all.

Edit - I would also suspect that the vast majority of fans probably have no clue about it at all, hence why they're still cheering him on.

Don’t get me wrong, it’s incredibly disappointing how it has been handled by the club, but if you don’t think every single club in PL would do the same you’re living in dream land. Spurs literally purchased Bissouma whilst he still had an outstanding sexual assault charge that was also dropped due to lack of evidence.

It’s a cultural thing in society and football in general as opposed to at Arsenal. Hell, if Greenwood hadn’t actually been arrested or had any charges upheld, he would be playing for United still. They certainly weren’t bothered about Ronaldo.

Like I said, super disappointing but it’s important to remember you can’t even publicly name him, let alone talk about the details of what happened, so what are commentators or anyone else on the media supposed to say?

Legally he cannot be made to train with the reserves as that is viewed as a punishment or even demotion, one we cannot legally justify. It’s a good law that protects ordinary people, but makes situations like this tricky.

  4. It’s funny, I’d bet majority of Chelsea fans had no clue who Enzo was before the WC. And now they’re celebrating spending 120m on him. I hate to keep being the “that’s too expensive guy”….but that’s too expensive lol part of me says if you have the money then spend it and it’s not the fans money so why should they care….but another part of me just hates how ridiculous transfer fees have become. We’re nearing a time where 100m for a player will be fairly normal. Bonkers. And it doesn’t feel sustainable at all.

Partey and Bissouma situations were vastly different. Partey has multiple allegations with pretty damning evidence. Also the way arsenal and arteta, specifically, handled it was incredibly tasteless. Mentioning "all that he's been through" was not needed and a slap to the face of survivors everywhere.

I don't remember United or their manager giving interviews regarding the case either. They immediately suspended him.

The Cr7 case is a but more nuanced due to when it happened and their being a settlement. But yes cr7 should face continual criticism of how that was handled and what type of human he is.

Arteta was specifically referring to Partey’s injuries with that quote though. He probably should have been more clear about it though either way.

Last thing I’ll say on this for now, but I’m sure it will come up again.

I would rather we got rid of him. But realistically no one is going to buy him and I can’t do anything about it. I will, however, be incredibly happy on the day we replace him.

Am I going to let it mean that I can’t enjoy my club, who I spend hundreds of pounds going to see every year, being good for the first time in 15 years? No. And I wouldn’t be expect the same for long term passionate fans of Newcastle or City either, despite my intense hatred of their owners.

    Not a lot…

  10. Same old shit. But over the summer that guy also talked about how the club is so healthy financially and how we have money to spend going forward. So I still think they’ll sign their guys if it’s possible.

That Faes own goal was very unfortunate

    hmmm

Could hear Ward shout for it on the coverage. Mental lapse from Faes. And possibly a lack of trust in his keeper too.

I know he's getting like $200m a year so it's not like he's totally lost out in this, but it's genuinely hilarious that every CL level club in Europe publicly turned him down and now he's ending his career in a league that his ego will struggle to manage.
