I will give them more money soon to see it in IMAX3D. They know how to hook you with this one.

Definitely the best use of 3D and nothing comes remotely close. Legit feels like you’re in the forest, water, on the ship, etc — completely immersive and makes you feel the scale of everything.

Fresh out of the theater thoughts: Last act kicks ass. First two? Kinda long and spotty, but everything pays off, so better in retrospect than in the moment. HFR is weird. The arm removal is Cameron’s best physical gag since Guy Hits Propeller in Titanic AND it’s amazing in 3D.

I never thought it would make close to Endgame or Avatar 1, but I’d still be surprised if this doesn’t reach near $2 billion

Idk, after sitting on this all afternoon I just didn’t find much to like here. At the bare minimum I wanted this movie to get me interested in the characters/story and convince me this is a world worth spending 3 more movies in. And it just…fell pretty flat for me unfortunately. Felt every bit of its length too.

Like Big Jim was saying, I probably will go see this again. Might try Dolby 3D

Saw it in real d 3d or whatever Cinemarks fancy one is.

honestly, I was a little disappointed. The best parts were the National Geographic nature documentary and would have loved to see them go deeper on Kirk’s power. Definitely liked the first one more.

I’m definitely going to see it again at least for that middle part that was just gorgeous scenery. So fucking cool.

Though I gotta say I audibly lol’d when the end credits song kicked in. Was not expecting that in the slightest

About halfway through I thought “Are they going to keep having the teens use “bro” every other sentence for the rest of the movie?” And the answer was of course yes

Yeah some of the dialogue was weird and most of the Navi speaking mostly English was also weird. They clearly just didn’t want subtitles for the entire movie.

Yeah there’s the explicit point in the beginning where Scully says that Na’vi language eventually grew to sound just like English to him, and that’s when the shift happens lol. So I took it to mean that any time it was just Na’vi speaking to each other, they weren’t *really* speaking English

    Forgot to mention:

my showing did not have the new Oppenheimer trailer which bummed me out

barbie teaser may have been 1 of the first 2 trailers, concessions were slow, so missed that too

I’ve seen some complaints about the middle third with all the whale stuff dragging on for too long, but I think it is all absolutely vital. You really need to get just how close of a bond the Na’vi have with the whales, and spend a lot of time with the whales yourselves, so that once the humans kill one, you are right there with the Na’vi in craving some gratuitous human murders

Also this is a movie that rests on its visuals and the middle third is basically all that, so in that sense it’s not worth complaining about either. This is a movie that benefits from all the fat of just watching animals and Na’vi running around enjoying nature. Like if Malick made a CGI blockbuster
