Freaky fast for a freaky long movie.

I thankfully did not have HFR (or didn’t notice it). I hate that shit and it’s weird some visionary tries to bring it back every five or so years.

With Jimmy John’s prices now, you gotta savor it.

These are the shots I can't stop thinking about how cool they looked in 3D

any scene at the surface of the water, where the shot was partially underwater.

The first Pandora shot with sparks or whatever flying through the air, legit thought it was a dust floating in the theater.

    The two-man submarine flooding

The shots on the hunting boat

    The first big underwater scene

This is the first 3D movie I've seen since the original Avatar so I have no idea whether this is unimpressive for 3D. I will say, the two 3D trailers (Guardians and Ant-Man) made me feel sick, and I never get motion sickness. They looked so shitty

So I admit, I never saw the first Avatar but my friends somehow roped me into going to see this with them. And I gotta say I liked this way more than I thought I would. I'm not a fan of long movies, but I'll be honest this did not feel like 3 hours to me. First hour or so was a bit slow and boring (and a little confusing not knowing anything from the other movie), but the rest of it was good and enjoyable. So despite not feeling as long as it was, still probably could have been cut down a bit.

made me laugh seeing harpoon dude get to keep his aussie accent but jemaine has to pretend to be american instead of being from new zealand for whatever reason

Jemaine is from the Benedict Cumberbatch School of American Accents where all you do is talk through your nose.

Spider was the only miss for me in this, what a weird character.

He reminded of a character Jonathon Brandis would have played in like 1995.

Not seen this because I am not really overly fussed about it but from a box office standpoint, it isn't looking all that rosy based on its estimated $53m Friday US gross. For comparison that is about $1m more than Top Gun: Maverick (which didn't cost $400m to make) and $31m less than Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.

This is going to do insanely well globally and on word of mouth domestically.

It should do globally but unless it is going to have the same tiny drops that the first film had in the US, I don't see it making as much as the first domestically.

It was never going to make that much domestically to begin with, I’d argue. But it doesn’t have much competition for a few months, either, so it may get some good legs out of that.

Yeah, a clear run should help but it will likely only have until mid-February to itself.

This movie will do more of a slow but steady box office like the first did. Only time will tell how long and how far.

It certainly will need to do that because if it tracks like other blockbusters from this year then it doesn't have much hope, I am sceptical as to whether it will be the third or fourth highest-grossing film ever like Cameron said it needed to be.
