49 at a local shop. I know it retails at 39 usually, so I didn’t mind paying the extra 10 for it.

Haven’t seen a bottle here in NM in forever. Besides in Colorado where they had it going for 80 bucks.. and I said fuck that.

 

Yeah not a bad price. That's about the going rate. Probably wouldn't pay more than that tbh

 

So I'm throwing together some ideas for our Christmas drinks menu and I want to try a couple of new whisky cocktails. It's been a while since I've been in the bourbon game, so does anyone have any recommendations for something that makes a good cocktail?

And while I'm here, anyone got any cocktail recipes they go for around Christmas time?

 

To commemorate my band's new album coming out, I picked up some Johnny Drum Private Stock (because I'm a drummer). It is quite tasty.

 

Looking for the Mid Winters Night.. no luck so far.

 

One of my clients is Jim Beam. We are going to do a bourbon tasting party this afternoon in the office and I can't wait.

This was so fun! We had BH, BH Dark Rye, BH red wine cask. The latter was easily my fav.

 

So cool. Always wanted to do one of those.

 

Been drinking lots of Whiskey/Bourbon sours lately..I'll post a pic next time I make one. Been using Woodford Reserve Bourbon but kinda wanna try something new next time I need a bottle.

 

This is so good. I typically like a rock or two in my whiskey but I went neat because it is SO smooth and creamy.

 

I usually stay away from celeb based whiskey but I've been wanting to try that one

 

I understand this notion, but through my limited whiskey knowledge - I am loving Blackened. Only had it neat, but I love making Old Fashioneds. That's the next step.

 

I want the Offerman Lagavulin, my spidey senses say I might get it for Christmas..... we'll see

 

Now this stuff is damn good, I think the Guinness Cask Edition won Whisky of the Year in Whisky Advocate last year.

i got some gentleman jack from a work gift exchange. anyone ever had it

 

I've only had the airplane size but I remember liking it. I think the difference between that and the normal stuff is that it's charcoal filtered twice instead of once? too lazy to look it up but I think that's the schtick.

 

the more expensive jack daniels are quite nice

 

Got my friend Lagavulin 8 and myself Aberfeldy 12 for Christmas and I am feeling warm

 

Aberfeldy 12 is a solid choice, very good for the price.

 

gentleman jack update: it is dangerously smooth. holy hell.

 

You end up getting one? I picked it up last night because I heard good things and it has double entries for the shops whiskey raffle. Waiting for @Max_123 to come over next week to open it tho
