Not looking to create an issue, but I didn't realize Ryan Adams had released like seven albums since being outed as an abuser. Wikipedia doesn't have information on any of them except for the first two, but they featured Emmylou Harris, Bob Mould, and John Mayer. Does anyone know if their involvement would have been before or after he was outed?

 

I know a handful of the albums released were the ones that got shelved by Blue Note Records. They were already recorded.

I also noticed recently that the streaming numbers on the albums are absolutely abysmal, people definitely stopped listening to him, which can't be said for everyone who gets "cancelled," for lack of better word

 

He just recently played the Chicago Theatre, which is a big theatre to play in Chicago. It’s 3,800 capacity and I was surprised he could still book venues like that.

 

He has 1.4 million listeners on Spotify this month. People stopped listening to his new albums, which could also be because he released 7 of them in a 2-year span and only the most diehard of diehards have the interest to listen to all of them. But his old stuff seems to still get the numbers.

I thought Marilyn Manson was """cancelled""" cancelled too, but he still has 5.6 million listeners on Spotify this month, so maybe not

 

Remember when Morgan Wallen was cancelled and his albums shot up in sales???

 

none of these people were actually cancelled which I guess is your point but also yeah I mean not really surprising when being cancelled is not really a thing and when it is it’s usually deployed against powerless people who lean left and are targeted by the right

Idk who this guy is or the specifics of the case but I don't think either money or lawyers gets you video contradicting the allegation (**if the characterization is accurate**).

Every once in a blue moon false allegations do occur, even if simply by mistake.

They didn't state that the video footage contradicts the allegations. What they said was "CCTV footage contradicted their version of the events", which could be any minor part of what happened or them just getting the sequence of events out of order. But a statement like that is crafted to cause exactly what you did and have people reading it infer that the video footage was exonerating without actually saying it was.
