River's explanation of the EPs on Conan's podcast made me realize the differences between the three, and excited for Winter.
Basically each EP is defined by a mood and a musical style. Spring= happiness/Island In the Sun style. Summer= Anger/90s alternative style. Autumn= anxious/dance rock. Winter = sadness/Elliot Smith style

 

Spun through these 3 EP's yesterday and I really like them. Weezer fans can be a salty bunch but I like how Rivers can now write songs like "Little Bit Of Love" and they can be taken at face value and not some perceived smirking irony underneath it.

 

Every one of these EPs has had a wildly different single rollout strategy

 

I Want A Dog is pretty fun. It's peak silly-Weezer done really well

 

but does it sound like elliott smith

 

Not even remotely close

 

Rivers please visit your local animal shelter it’s very simple

Easily one of the best songs about wanting a dog of all time

 

Liking this song more than anything off the last ep

 

Easily the best of the lead singles, song rocks. Classic Weez

Based on this and the leaked live version of Winter, I think this will be the best of the SZNZ.

 

It’s cool they finally wrote a decent song for this project

This single feels on par with the rest of the EPs. Kinda fun to hear snippets of “classic Weezer” and other interesting half-ideas but the overall songs don’t feel fleshed out and well-edited, IMO. Feels very much like a “song a day” challenge/experiment project rather than studio album level tracks. #catowner

 

Instrumentally, this sounds like it’s straight off Blue.
