Anybody here a fan of The Deslondes? They are one of those bands that’s been around for years that I never really paid much attention to, but recently have become a little obsessed. Especially with their album from earlier this year.

Getting into them kind of led me down a bit of a rabbit hole with this entire country/roots music community that exists in and around New Orleans that I was completely oblivious to for the most part. Sam Doores of the Deslondes seems to be kind of at the center of it all between playing with or producing music for most of them. I also learned that he used to be in Hurray For The Riff Raff (who also used to be a big part of this community) which is kind of a fun fact. Idk if anybody else will care but here’s some really cool albums/artist I’ve discovered as I’ve dug in.

Zach Bryan dropped his live Red Rocks album "All My Homies Hate Ticketmaster." It's an absolute fireball. So many new takes on his songs. These versions of Revival and Condemned blew my mind. He also posted this on IG to announce its release. Absolute legend.

New Drayton Farley album in March produced by Sadler Vaden. Based on what I have read it’s basically the 400 Unit as his backing band on this album.

 

65 years to the day since the recording of At Folsom Prison.

Still one of the most iconic and brilliant live albums.

Imo the set list is one of the most well curated in any live album, considering the themes and location.

 

I think i own that on vinyl. should bust it out tonight

Never heard of this artist before today. Read a review that threw out a Prine comparison so I decided to give it a listen during my run today. Was kind of blown away at how good it was and at the fact I’d never heard of her. Kinda reminds me of Lori McKenna, or Nanci Griffith.
