First penalty was not so good, but that one was a good save.

to be fair I’ve never kicked a penalty in my life but I don’t get why they don’t just hammer it

Feel for Japan but there’s no excuse for three out of four penalties being that bad. They scuffed three of them.

Croatia held their nerve excellently, it’s the experience I guess.

    Ah shame.

I generally like Croatia but they’re a bit boring this year.

I dislike Croatia as I always felt they were a bit lucky with scraping through in extra time and penalties and they also beat England and I'm bitter about that ha. In their defense though from that WC, I think the score in the final was unfair and lopsided and Croatia put up a hell of a fight against France that score didn't reflect.

This year, I don't think Croatia makes the semi's as the winner of Brazil/S Korea takes them out.

Jumping back a few posts, I'm glad England has France. There will be no moaners about a soft run if they advance this year. They are up against the best early and I like that. I am optimistic but also not getting my hopes up. Nothing would surprise me except England blowing France out. They'll win a close one, lose in heartbreaking fashion, or get absolutely destroyed, but I don't see anyway they blow France out.

Obviously I can’t speak to if this is true, but it’s very funny, and makes me happy to have the BBC and even ITV

I will say it’s bad enough that I decided to forgo subscribing to a streaming package for the WC and have chosen to go exclusively with streams of ITV and BBC. That’s not really making a judgement call on this year’s coverage, but just a continuation of the abysmal coverage we’ve gotten from all of the different Fox Soccer affiliations over the years. I fondly remember the days of Fox Soccer Channel which used to just rebroadcast Sky coverage all the time.

  14. I didn't read the article, but the headline is a bit dramatic lol

I'd definitely prefer NBC to be over the WC because they do a great job overall with PL. And I definitely mute the TV anytime Lalas is talking. He is the absolute worst. And he overpowers others during segments. It's weird. Other than him, no one particularly stands out as terrible. The viewing experience of the actual games are fine. Commentary is generic but not unlistenable.

  15. Another note, Landon Donovan is pretty boring to listen to haha

The actual in-game commentary is pretty good for the most part. Who watches pre-game and post-game stuff anyway? But that is an impressively written article.

  17. After saying this they'll probably lose today, but I just get the feeling this is Brazil's tournament.

This is amazing, spot on, and soo soo savage. The team of American guys who did the USA/England game just use the oddest terms that have no place in soccer commentary. So many stupid, goofy things like 'and he runs towards the sideline ready to turn this into a track meet!' like stfu.

Brazil is far too good for this not to become a bloodbath.

Yeah, these commentators right now (Brazil/S Korea) are the absolute worst. Every single thing they say is so out of cadence or out of touch with English commentary. I'm going to listen carefully and I'll let you all know the most egregious dumb things they say. (Unless work gets in the way, if I don't post back, they still said dumb shit, I just didn't catch it).
