Station eleven had some all timer episodes, but when I think back on it I have some issues with it as a show overall.

The thing I will always remember about Atonement is that the audience gasped when they had to shoot the horses at Dunkirk but no one gasped when they came upon the pile of dead people, maybe children.

Not my favorite, but it's in my top five as of now (not in order, outside of EEAAO).

    Everything Everywhere All At Once
    After Yang
    Banshees of Inisherin
    RRR
    Tar

There's still a ton left to see though. Moonage Daydream might sneak into my top five too as I've thought about it pretty much every day.

  25. idk about "consensus" or "best." I don't think I watched a single "serious" film this year. (I think awards shows should expand to genre films but that's another discussion)

For horror, I loved Nope, Barbarian, and Pearl. Also really liked X and Hellraiser. Umma, Smile, and Prey for the Devil weren't as good, but they surprisingly weren't bad, and interestingly had a lot of similarities with each other.

For superhero shit, I actually really liked Thor 4 (aka Jane Foster's Thor) and Doctor Strange 2 (aka WandaVision pt. 2) seemingly more than most folks, but the best was Wakanda Forever, exactly what the MCU and its fans needed after such a huge loss.

As for DC, The Batman was good, but that's technically in its own continuity. Black Adam, the only DCEU film this year, didn't even come close, and honestly, I'm still mad at the cancelation of Batgirl.

For non-superhero action, The Woman King was great. Bullet Train and Violent Night were fun.

For comedy, Glass Onion and The Menu were great, like two sides of the same coin. Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent and Banshees of Inishiren were also good times, even though the latter is somehow simultaneously super bleak.

    tl;dr
In general, though, Everything Everywhere All at Once is hands down best of the year for me. It means so much to me as a queer Asian American, and I love seeing that so many other people also love it.
