I trust Mangold to balance it out.

  2. "Dial of Destiny" is a silly title, but I guess it's better than "Kingdom of the Crystal Skull." I also trust Mangold, and I don't think the trailer looks terrible.

Even if it ends up being bad, I'm excited to rewatch the trilogy and see this in the theater with my dad next summer.

I mean, I'm gonna see it. But the trailer didn't do much for me.

Raiders is maybe my favorite movie of all time and yet somehow this isn’t my most anticipated action movie of 2023 because of Mission Impossible

holding out some hope that maybe a few theaters marathon the trilogy .....and....i guess Kingdom .... before this one. I'd burn a PTO day to do that.

Agree on the CGI. This is a movie almost guaranteed to make a ton of money. At least shoot SOME of it practically?

Top Gun Maverick made a goddamn billion dollars because it looked real as hell. There’s no reason that shouldn’t be the bar they try to clear.

  9. Not sure I could do a full day marathon in theaters, but I'd love to see Last Crusade on a big screen. Raiders in a really old theater that had couches instead of regular seats is one of my favorite movie experiences ever.

I don't think you can compare Top Gun: Maverick with this, considering Cruise is maniac that defies death with every stunt and Ford is a curmudgeon that stopped giving it his all decades ago.

not to mention there being only one really great indy movie since the original, where M:I has arguably only one less-than-solid entry

    Alright. I'm going for it.

Indiana Jones theme is John Williams' best work

He knows it too, that's why he's coming back one last time for this

Did the music sound weird in this one? Just felt “off” in the trailer but I can’t put my finger on why.

All I noticed was it was the same as this

soft piano theme and then BOOOM BOOOOM BOOOOOOM theme

I'm down for this, and Dial of Destiny sounds like a pulp adventure title, which I think fits perfectly with this.

    100%.

Indiana Jones, from its Lucas & Spielberg inception, is a love letter to classic pulpy serials. And, if we're dragging out senior citizen Harrison Ford this decade for a nostalgia-chasing sequel, the best case scenario is that it embraces that nearly century-old genre in all the best ways. Which, it seems to be doing? John Williams doing his victory lap with the score should help a lot.

To be fair, we’re probably not going to see if Maverick’s success will have an influence for another year or two. This started shooting a year before Maverick came out, so it’s not like Disney was going to change the production because of it.
