This list is really shocking. Two films from the 21st century (and Beau Travail came out in many places in 2000). Jeanne Dielman. 8 1/2 plummeted.

Get Out? Obviously all for genre pictures getting their due but... that's bordering on poptimism haha.

2001: A Space Odyssey won the Directors' Poll, so the rumors were on to something.

That one bothers me. Good film and Peele is a talent but top 100 films of all time feels off.

I'm bummed that Mulholland Drive left me as cold as it did when I watched it. I should try again. My vote would be for Blue Velvet.

As far as 21st century representation, There Will Be Blood and The Tree of Life stand out as pretty big omissions.

Haha. I mean, I like Get Out, but calling it one of one of the greatest films of all time is kind of silly. The same goes for Portrait of a Lady on Fire. Yeah, it's solid, sure, but let's not lose our shit.

Also, we live in a frustrating world where Chinatown (and, hell, maybe even Rosemary's Baby and Repulsion) are some of the greatest films of all time made by one incredibly vile human.

The highest ranked film I have never seen is Daisies at 28.

While it's one of my favorites of 2016, Moonlight at #60 is kind of comical as well.

Yeah, I didn't realize that There Will Be Blood had fallen out of favor. I thought it was rightfully regarded as a modern masterpiece. Also surprised The Tree of Life isn't in there. That's what makes these lists ultimately for fun only. To say Parasite is "better" than The Tree of Life is just...odd.

Mulholland Dr., In the Mood for Love, and There Will Be Blood are usually the trifecta competing for best films of this century, so one being the odd man out is definitely a question mark.

I actually watched all 250 from the 2012 poll when it came out. I really had to search the darkest recesses of the internet to find some of those films. It's safe to say The Mother and the Whore brought up the most unwanted results.

My only viewing of the Apu Trilogy was a really low quality VHS rip. The Criterion release was a few years off.

When do they drop the full 250?

    Not here. Isn't happening. Supporter

Well it’s not exactly my top 10 but 2 of my top 10 are in theirs and a few more in the top 25. Lots of head scratchers in there considering some obvious ones didn’t make it. Mostly just pleasantly surprised to see Mulholland Dr so high though!

Wild list. I actually had never even heard of #1 before. Oh well. I've put every single film on both the critics and directors polls that I have not seen on a spreadsheet and hopefully will get around to them all before the next one in 2032.

Cassevetes is never on GOAT lists

I told myself I wouldn't try and have strong opinions on this buuuuuut absolutely fucking insane for Tree of Life and There Will Be Blood to drop off the list and is insulting as fuck to PTA and Malick. OTOH Wanda is another one I'm kinda surprised to see. Also I feel eh about it's inclusion but I am kinda surprised to see Parasite as low as it is. Moonlight being high makes me happy.

Also haven't seen it but Tropical Malady being there feels nice for Apichatpong Weerasethakul being there, might watch that tonight.

Beau Travail in the top 10 makes me feel validated for being a massive massive Claire Denis stan

They didn’t drop off the list. They were on the Top 250 from 2012, Tree of Life was like 107. I imagine they will both be in the expanded list, if anything I expect The Master and Phantom Thread on there as well as Badlands, Thin Red Line and maybe even The New World.
