Tickets are around $75. The only good thing of living in a 3rd world country is not as expensive tickets.

Could be a dumb question but is Mexico generally considered 3rd world? I went to Mexico City and it seemed fairly cosmopolitan in parts but, understandably, that could be a limited area of the city/country.

admittedly idk anything but I feel like I've always heard that there's no "middle class" in Mexico, you're either very well off or very poor?

Mexico City has a lot of contrasts, you can walk in a fairly rich part of the city and just a few blocks away there will be an undeveloped neighbourhood. And there has been a lot of gentrification that makes the city looks nice but at the same time it mkae it expensive for people in the city to buy or rent apartments in there.

I would say there's a big part of middle class at least in Mexico City, but I do think a lot of the population who are low-income living with the minimum wage which is $170 pesos or around $8 dollars a day.

Thats another hot topic in the city in the last couple of months. Mexico City government and airbnb are promoting it so people come. But locals dont like them as they are also making certain neighbourhoods more expensive and landlords rather rent their apartments to them than to Mexicans.

Also fascinating how Interpol is so huge in Mexico. I have no idea why as they sound very New York/London/Manchester but I do know they fill bigger venues there than elsewhere.

I guess Hawthorne Heights “Is For Lovers” fest must of done pretty well this year, because they just announced one in Tennessee.

Mexicans love that british post punk sound. We practically worship Morrissey/The Smiths.

Damn, that fest would be sick in The Caverns. I've always wanted to see a show there.

Wonder what other cities they’ll branch out to. I’ll be surprised if they don’t do one in California next year

Would be cool if they do it in different spots every year

The Caverns is an incredible venue. Went there to see Copeland this year and loved it

Ah didn't realize. Is Suede also popular there?

Mexicans love post punk in all their sahpes and forms. From the classics like Joy Division to The Smiths, to the brtipop with Blur, Oasis and Pulp and the post punk revival with Interpol and White Lies, all the way to the Russian post punk like Motorama and Molchat Doma and the new UK bands like Idles and Viagra Boys. All those bands are huge in Mexico.

As an exmple here is a crowd shot of White Lies performing at a festival in Mexico City last weekend

Just caught up on the thread, I don't have much going on in Jan/Feb at all. I'm seeing The Menzingers, The Book of Mormon, and possibly WWE, but that's about it.
