This is pure hopium but the more I’ve read about the Glazers willing to sell the more I think a deal is done or nearly done. Like a lot more information has come out about it than FSG’s thing with Liverpool.

I was listening to The Athletics United podcast this morning, Talk Of The Devils, and Laurie Whitwell was saying it might be the opposite. They've been privately shopping the club since the summer, and he thought that the decision to go public might be because they've not had the level of interest that they might have thought they'd have.

It was mentioned that they might have been forced to go public once the banks were hired to represent them as it would have inevitably got out at that point, and if they're at the stage of hiring representatives like that maybe it is closer than we think.

AHEM Dubai actually don't make that much money on oil. it's only like 1% of their GDP. I was surprised too.

    but yeah, please no

Let's get these people moving faster!

Shunsuke Nakamura provided some of my favourite Celtic moments. So I'm all for it!

I'm not a foolish Newcastle fan and know they'll never have the global prominence of Liverpool or Man U (nor do I want them to), but it's wild to think PIF were able to buy Newcastle for <400 million and then the prices Chelsea and co. will now go for by comparison. American franchises may soon max out on values, and given the operating losses European football clubs run, there's no hope of return on investment if you spend 5+ billion on them.

Though Qatar were willing to spend 250 billion to host the WC, so who knows what loss tolerances they have for these state toys.

Remains strange that Pellistri hasn't managed to get a game for United this year despite consistently being first choice for his country.

Sounds like he'll be off in January, I wonder if there's any attitude issues like Garnacho earlier in the year.

I simply don’t think he’s good enough to break through yet. Decent enough player but has seemed quite one note. Two shocking loans that he wanted to go on hurt him then a very unfortunately timed injury stopped him going on loan this summer.

he’s one of those players that a portion of our fan base that has never really seen him play have latched onto him and think he’s the bee’s knees.

We’ve had so so many of them through the years haha. I think Facu is better suited to European first team football than Puig though. He’ll leave, do well at a smaller club a lá Depay, our fans will freak out and pretend like we lost a guaranteed Balon D’Or player. Rinse, repeat with another young lad.

This game is like watching a bunch of nine year olds run around without a plan and just pure chaos energy.

Fucking hell an u9’s World Cup would be unreal entertainment. I remember playing against a team from Kerry at u9 and I swear to fuck half their team was like 6 foot tall. Bastards.

Every middle school basketball team in the US ALWAYS has like one thirteen year old that somehow is 6’8” so I love that global sports have an equivalent.

We had two lads that were like a foot bigger than the rest of the team. Other teams would complain, it got to the point where the kid’s parents had to bring birth certs against certain teams.

But Kingdom were next level, they were all a foot taller than the rest of us.

The main hope is he has a good World Cup and some team gives us a decent fee for him.

Thankful for this thread, btw. Most people in my life don’t like our sport so I’m very happy to have a place and people to talk about it and watch with. Even if I talk about Barca too much and y’all barely tolerate it.

I was trying to describe myself to someone

Man, this has brought something up that I hadn't thought about for years.

I played for my village team for a few years and when we were in U12s or U13s, I remember one our coaches talking to each other and then warning us that the team we were about to face had been complained about at their previous fixture for fielding an over age player and this kid had quite badly injured an opponent.

I don't think any of us thought too much about it (at that age it's normaly for the players to be all over the place in terms of how much puberty they'd mustered) until we saw this kid. It wasn't just that he was a little taller, he looked like a fucking man compared to the rest of us. He was wide and stocky and hairy. Even our bigger lads couldn't really do anything about him, so I can see how this kid might have injured another player. Absolute tank.

The wierdest detail though, was that he appeared to be wearing stockings, rather than football socks.
