These posts definitely make me have some thoughts about what may have happened but it would all still be speculation. Interesting to see if we’ll hear more of what happened.

 

Not here to argue if we deserve more info but I can say that the drama and messiness around this band far out shadows the music at this point. At least for me.

 

Has been there been any drama with this band since Cody left? Or just them leaving a tour which we have 0 information on?

 

I mean this, the weird girlfriend lyric (followed by her breaking up with him), the constant line up changes, the wide brim hat.

 

This band had a new controversy every month 10 years ago. I don’t think anything back then ever had to do with any sexual assault allegations. It could be that this time, but their controversy ridden past hasn’t shown that.

My guess is the drummer quit over a money, “pulling weight”, or drug/alcohol issue and the whole tour imploded.

 

I don’t see how him and his girlfriend breaking up and a song lyric is drama.

 

It was mostly a joke lol

I disagree about not "deserving" or being "owed" to know what happened.

Imagine if Cody left TDS and we never knew why.

If people are doing things that would make us not want to support them anymore as patrons/fans we should know who we are really supporting at least at a superficial level. Because I know exactly why Cody left I know to never support him again in any capacity.

I don't know anything about this situation I just think the idea of being held accountable in this industry also should come with some level of transparency.

Of course I'm not interested in just gossip or random personal bullshit but if the drummer left for very serious reasons it would be nice to know who I'm still supporting in the band.

If it's not a serious reason and he just doesn't like the guys in the band like he did before then whatever not necessarily our business.

I'll just have to assume whatever went down on the tour was not serious enough to warrant speaking about or making public.

 

You don’t really have to read between the lines to see that there seem to be some drug and alcohol abuse issues with this band. Kind of sad and upsetting to watch.

 

Addiction is awful. If this is simply the ripple effect to that being the cause, I hope this is a wake up call and he seeks the help he needs.

 

Was the substance use being so in the open there since day 1? I didn't get into them until 2013.. it seems that after the reunion it was way more in the forefront

 

I don't think they/he was on social media as much... or I didn't follow him to see it. But it does feel like it's basically an extension of his hand in more photos/stories posted than not. I mean, I'm drinking a beer right now, and have my own vices, but it's not a personality like I feel like he's created (especially with his drinking club or whatever he has at pre/post shows).

I don’t really know besides what I see on social media and what I hear in their lyrics but I’ve been a fan since RFTS and I think you’re right. There were a couple of songs that referenced drinking around breakups, grief, etc, on those early records but now it seems like he is drinking constantly, writing lyrics about doing bumps and then driving, etc. It’s just a bad and trashy look. If he needs help I hope he recognizes that and gets some.

 

He openly talked about doing whippets on stage on this tour. There’s clearly something to worry about there

 

Cody harassed someone on warped tour. And I think there was a cell phone nude situation of them taking photos on someone’s camera or something.

 

I forgot about the cell phone thing but I think you are right. If I remember correctly, it happened at a fan’s house who gave them a place to stay while they were touring? I could be confusing two stories here.

 

From reading about other shows on this tour I am surprised that they don't pull bigger crowds on the whole. When/why did their popularity wane? I saw them at the Roxy and was hard to guage attendence... maybe 50-100.. counting other bands and friends.. When I saw Millencolin there by chance in 2015 you couldn't even move it was so packed. And I never hear anyone mention millencolin anymore. It seems like TDS peaked around warpaint fanbase wise and maybe since reunion it never has been the same?

 

Had no idea what this was... just googled it but only saw dogs and then my wife had to tell me what they were because she knew about it in HS

 

Using facts to discuss something that has not yet been properly explained is not “jumping to conclusions.” Y’all are wild. Nobody is trying to cancel them here. AJ openly glamorizes drug abuse. That alone is enough to warrant this discussion. Discussions are not cancel culture.

 

Don’t think it has been. Also based on the thread on the news feed, several long time fans said they went to this recent tour and AJ was so drunk and unprofessional they left early because he couldn’t even perform well enough for them to want stay. So if a lot of their crowds are made up of people who are fans from those first two records, which I’d imagine they are, they may be pushing some of those people away with their behavior.

No, nobody’s talking about Moose Blood, the TDS guys supposedly took unsolicited dick pics on somebody’s camera or something to that effect.

 

The story I am thinking of was definitely before Moose Blood was even a band.

 

Also, on a semi-related note, I worked at a grocery store for almost 10 years from high school to just after college and there were some kids who got fired because they got caught doing whip-its in the dairy cooler. I think they just left empty bottles of whipped cream lying around in there lol.
