Yes it’s amazing

 

The Tera mechanic looks amazing for competitive, feels very good and balanced compared to the others over the past few releases. Have only messed around with it online a tiny bit so haven’t messed with some of the stronger combos but I really like it

 

Even with Atreus telling you what to do within 10 seconds of starting a puzzle?

 

I tune him out. Also sometimes I do need help lol

 

Just wrapped up the quest in Alfheim. Game is heating up

 

Just finished Ragnarok and meh at the ending

I'm getting closer to the end of the game, I think.

The further into this madness I go, the less I'm sure if this combat system is stupid or genius. First, finding what special moves in your arsenal actually do damage is a trial and error annoyance. Then, combo chaining them into a proper rhythm that lets you do decent damage and still keep everyone alive is also a puzzle.

Throw in that enemies are now starting to routinely heal themselves and barrier themselves, and you have an exercise in frustration.

Now, there's one more quirk to the battle system I haven't brought up before, and it's because I'd been avoiding using it until now, but I've found it's really absolutely crucial to surviving the latter half of the game.

There's what's called Overtension, and what this does is if your special moves bar is at 100, you can use Overtension and you'll be able to use like twice as many attacks as you normally would, at the exchange of your entire bar going down to 0.

The reason this is worth playing with is because the longer you chain attacks in a combo, the more damage they do, so if you can use Overtension to pull off a super long combo, you can do a lot of damage.

Unfortunately, next turn you're having to use normal attacks to build your bar back up, so you have to have a gameplan when using this thing.

I had to crack open this game mechanic on the last two bosses I fought, otherwise I wouldn't have survived. It's exhausting, the combat in this game.

There really is no incentive to make a good Pokemon game.

 

They seem to pump out new Pokémon and Pokémon games way more frequently than something like Zelda, without really building on the formula, and people still buy them. And, I mean, that's all fine and all, but hypothetically I think it would be interesting to see, idk, Pokémon Red remade in Unreal Engine 5 or whatever. Kinda like how, I think, fans remade Morrowind (the setting) using tools from TES5.

 

Violet is good

 

Yeah i'm having a blast with the new Pokemon.
