We've been significantly better than I thought we would be

 

I do think Iran have been much poorer than I expected, too. They’re not a bad team.

I really thought we'd be quite bad. Iran aren't that poor a side, we've looked ropey this year and have typically found "lower quality" opposition hard going in tournaments. US and Wales games might actually be quite fun with that confidence boost in place now.

 

I missed the start of each half and the keeper injury but 24’ of stoppage time feels absurd. Was the game actually stopped for 14’ in the first half? The heck happened in the second to warrant 10’?

if they were really going to give a yellow card for wearing the armband (not sure what law of the game allows them to do this, lol), I get why the nations backed down since yellow card accumulation in these tournaments is deadly.
