Completion percentage reflects more than just QB accuracy. Scheme, receivers, etc.

 

Which is the curious thing. Why are they getting slack for playing worse than the guys who are supposedly the worst in the league? It's just weird. Bortles plays bad, Ben plays worse, so everyone talks about Bortles. We know he's bad haha.

 

Ben has 2 Super Bowls lol I think I can give him some slack for having a few off games

 

You know exactly what I'm saying. A bad QB having three bad games is not a bigger deal than an elite one.

 

Guys... Brandon thinks tannehill is good so I wouldn't take anything he says to heart.

 

Tannehill is an average at worst QB. This is specifically highlighted with how many bad to average QBs there are throughout the NFL

 

I'll say this, for the amount of shit Jacksonville fans get about Bortles, it's nothing compared to the Dolphins with Tannehill. Back to back 4,000 yards season and a 2+:1 INT ratio but yeah he sucks. I don't get how he became a cool guy to talk shit on but yeah, the hate for him is so overblown.

 

Palmer = 5:7
Fitzpatrick = 3:9
Winston = 8:8
Newton = 7:6
Roethlisberger = 6:8
Bortles = 5:7

So that's a .71 for Palmer/Bortles, .33 for Fitz, 1 for Winston, .75 for Roethlisberger, and a 1.16 for Newton.

I'm not gonna make an argument on whether or not Bortles is good/bad, but I will say that I don't think Fitzpatrick is getting a pass over Bortles, and every other TD:TO ratio is either equal to or greater than his.

I do want to see Bortles with a new coach though.

 

They need to fire Greg Olson Monday no matter what happens in the game.

some guy told me he'd rather have Simian, Flacco, Fitzpatrick, Winston, Cousins, & Dalton over him and that we should cut him after the season

so I asked "who do we replace him with?"

"Give Jimmy G $100 million or draft someone"

the problem is most fans don't realize how bad/average QB play is, in general, around the NFL. I will bold all the teams with bad/average QB play:

now, some of these are close. But you get the picture. Plus, a lot of these guys like Brady, Brees, Rivers, etc will be retiring in the next few years so that will go up even more

 

Because historically Ben is a pretty low TD/TO ratio, despite taking as many chances as he does. And so people will cut him slack when his WRs are basically AB and a giant pile of shit (Rogers, James, DHB, Coates...honestly, its a list of practice squad dudes he's making look good).

Whereas Bortles is usually around the league leaders in INTs, and he's working with the same WRs he's had all offseason and last year

 

I realize that haha. I'm speaking more from an everyday fan kind of perspective.

 

I'll go ahead and disagree with Oakland. Carr has shown to me he's better than average.

 

21. Derek Carr is not bad to average.

 

Derek Carr is the only franchise QB to have a winning record and three good games on his resume this season.

 

Looks solid. Makes sense that about 2/3 of the league would have average or below average QBs.

As Brady, Brees, and Rivers retire, a couple of Winston, Mariota, Wentz, Bortles, Carr, Cousins, etc and the new draftees should improve enough land on the lower tier of that list, so I don't think the future looks bleak or anything.

 

I might consider Stafford an above-average QB

 

I would not describe 21-35 249 yards 1 td 1 int against the Titans as 'good.' Carr has played three of the worst defenses in the league so far this year.

 

Three games is a small sample size for all of these players. Especially in Carson Palmer's case. He's had one bad game.

Remember last week when everyone was running around asking if Aaron Rodgers is still elite? One game on its own means nothing.
