I'm really happy with how Neighbourhoods turned out. One of my fave blink albums, definitely better than California.

I'm only basing it off the interview where Tom said something like "I'm fine. I'm allowing this to happen and I'm okay with it." Paraphrasing there, as I can't remember exactly what he said, or if he even said it in truth. But basically the vibe I got was that he was okay with whatever was happening while he finished out his projects, but that would change once he's down. I guess I don't really put it past him either.

I guess I just disagree with you on the very fundamental idea. I think there is some great shit on Neighborhoods and some decent shit on California. I honestly think California might be the worst album by them even including side projects, but I'm not too familiar with Transplants so can't say so definitively. The album is shockingly boring pop-rock. Neighborhoods for all its faults, had some personality, some character and was enjoyable.

Sort of wish they just stayed broken up and we had Neighborhoods as their send off. But oh well..

Hopefully the next album doesn't have Feldmann producing. I would also like Skiba to take more initiative on the album. I'm sure he contributed a lot, but I bet he held back since he was new.

So I've already seen them on this current tour (plus 5 additional times) but I wanna see them again this year. Do I catch them on the last stop of this tour in Irvine or see them at the San Diego radio festival in December? I'd risk getting a smaller set with that one but I'd get Jimmy Eat World + last time they did some rarities like I Won't Be Home For Christmas

Yeah I hear you. I just have a really hard time believing anything that comes out of Tom's mouth now. He hasn't shown he's cared about blink since 2003 so I'm not sure what really changed now.

Of course at this point I wouldn't at all be shocked if Tom gave up control of the brand yet still claims he will be back. Totally seems like something Tom would say/do.

Definitely go to the San Diego show you're more likely to maybe get a new song from California (perhaps SOOHM) plus like you said they will probably play I Won't Be Home for Christmas and you get to see Jimmy Eat World.

I'd say wait for the Kroq Almost Acoustic Christmas lineup to get announced. I have to imagine that Blink and JEW are both on that as well.

But I'm in the same boat as you, saw that San Diego show announced this morning and started thinking about doing the 3 hour drive down lol

Kroq typically has the better lineups but they have waaaaay too short of sets

Side note - we got The Only Thing That Matters and She's out of her Mind in the soundcheck in Phoenix on Saturday. Got back for the meet & greet too - but still waiting for my pic from the record label contact.

    I'm flailing now.

My concert is this Saturday. For those that have already seen them on this tour, what time did Blink hit the stage?

Always - I think it's maybe the most blink sounding song they've ever written. The guitars, the lyrical content & vocals, the drums and the bass sound so blink to me. The way the song comes together makes it greater than the sum of it's parts. It's the best Cure meets Descendents song they've ever written.
And for me personally it was the last single before the hiatus and it was super popular just as I was graduating high school, I think I saw them play the day before they recorded the video, it all just seemed to come together.

What's everyone's opinion on California now? Now that the hype has settled I feel rather disappointed by it. Hope they take their time with the next album and take more risks, maybe try around different producers or something.

I think it's my least favourite album I've actively listened to the entirety of this year.

"Cure meets Descendents" is a great way to define their post-self-titled material (and what I think they are stronger at).

Feeling This is probably my favorite blink song. Both Mark and Tom sing on it, love the guitars, drums, chorus and bridge. Perfect song to start an album or a concert. Great energy, love the yelling in the verse and the calmness in the chorus and then after the bridge they both come together.

I still like it a lot and listen to songs from it at least once a week or so. I really can't wait for a follow up album. My only complaints would be how every song starts with Mark and there aren't any real memorable guitar riffs but those complaints are minor to me.

I really like it. I'm actually surprised at how much I like it, especially considering the only blink album I really liked before was the S/T

I still spin it quite often. going into the fall and winter I may see it lessen as it definitely feels more spring and summer. my main complaint with the album is too many oh oh's, whoa's and na na's. it works, but was just a lot. also needs more signature guitar riffs. I doubt that they won't go with Feldman. I'd personally love for them to work with Bill Stevenson, they are all huge Descendents fans and he did an excellent job on Alkaline Trio's My Shame Is True. I think that'd be a perfect fit.

One thing that always confused me about the album is with how much they talked about "what is blink?" when recording it seems they didn't realize riffs were a huge part of the band. Every one of their signature hits has a memorable guitar part. They could have easily replaced certain parts with riffs (like in the title track the na na na whoa part)

It made me hate Feldmann and Hoppus' songwriting.
