Oh, it definitely is. I'm just bitter because they play so many CA shows while hardly ever coming through the Midwest. The last time they headlined in my state was actually supporting StS in 2003.

Don’t see any tweet now, so I’m assuming it was a mistake. They have the same management

Their touring routes are always so werid. I know most of their fanbase is in California but they hit up markets like Tuscon and Boise while only playing Chicago/Milwaukee out here. I had to travel to freaking Omaha to see them on the Circa Survive tour.

I wish I knew this band back in 2000. I wasn't even into this type of music then. :verysad: Opening with Fall Children good Lord..

I always wonder what it was like for old school fans hearing Black Sails for the first time. Most bands have a style shift but hearing that after a couple of Vandals-esque punk albums & a hardcore record had to be wild.

  9. Here's an even weirder one: became a fan at age 9-10 (Crash Love era), my first 3 AFI CDs were that, Decemberunderground and Fall Children. Again, I was NINE.

Decemberunderground dropped on my 11th birthday, and I remember getting it and spending all day listening to it on my physical CD player and playing Habbo Hotel lol

    No Fun. Not Ever.

Same. Some guy on my school bus in high school gave me a burnt copy of it a little bit before StS came out. Should've remembered his name to thank him for that.

I'm sure I'm not the only one, but I first heard of them from THPS 3 and went out and bought The Art of Drowning and All Hallow's EP.

Black Sails doesn't seem that different to me than from Shut Your Mouth. However, my experience with Shut Your Mouth is very limited and I've barely listened to the stuff earlier than that. So, I can't be trusted really. Black Sail seems like a natural progression upward.

My first was Decemberunderground. I had heard Leaving Song 2 and Girl Not Grey before I think, but wasn't aware of who they were and they were not on my radar. So I was 20 when I got into them. That CD was big for me. Crash Love didn't do a whole lot for me at all. But I went back and got into Sing The Sorrow then from a torrent download or something. I eventually found "Drowning", "Black Sails" and "All Hallows EP" CDs at a used CD shop so I added those to the rotation and ended up digging that stuff as well from them. (This was in like 2015/6 or so so that was a cool find) Found all B-sides from all albums and extras from Black Sails forward. Burials really sent me over the moon for the band. Blood also was stellar. I need to give Bodies another shot.

    Anyway, best band.

I'm trying to do a discog run now. Random order currently. Hoping to listen to the first 3 albums in full for the first time.

This was actually my first time too! I have no recollection of how I liked this song at the time. I think for me back then it was just "another song on the soundtrack". I was in no way into punkyier songs back then. I was just getting into Linkin Park, POD, Evanescence, Incubus back then. Fast punk stuff interest came later.

There are some bands that enjoy this kind of shit. AFI and Jawbreaker are, both, not one of them.
