I hate double posting but I can't tell if this band thinks their fans are stupid, if the band itself is stupid, or if they're just banking on their fans being shitty enough people to just let it slide. I do not know what would cause a group of adults to decide the best option was to not only keep the abuser, but to try and lie about the whole thing like a small child's last-ditch effort to avoid being punished for something. This literally feels like a kid being like "There's sharpie all over the wall because uh, my brother! He stole my apple juice so I had to chase him but I had a sharpie in my pocket so really it was my brother's fault. I don't know how it ended up shaped like dicks I swear!"

The band could've rebuilt to some degree if they moved on like they have multiple times in the past, they were relevant enough to make a new singer work. But now they're going to stagnate as a taboo band to even bring up and I hope they enjoy rotting there.

 

As someone with a drinking problem who has gotten sober and has been for over five years now, I sincerely hope Tilian gets knocked the fuck out and never tours again

 

Yeah the fixation on Mikaela is weird because her story was already essentially heavily refuted, and that was not why he stepped away from the band. The allegation from Spooky is what he needed to address and barely touching on it is very strange, almost like he knows that’s what the real issue is and wants to bring as little light to it as possible.

 

Seriously. After Mikaela's weird group chat leaked with all the vile shit she said/did, I couldn't really find anyone defending her. I don't know who Tilian thought had to be convinced that heavily on her. What he did to Spooky was the real issue, and it really seems like he wanted to frame it like Mikaela was the main issue since she is so easy to dismiss and hate on. It really seems like he tried to boost the relevance of the Mikaela stuff just to diminish the Spooky stuff. Mikaela acts like a weirdo villain online, so if she's seen as the main story, the Spooky stuff will probably not even be taken as seriously. If considered at all. This whole thing just seems like the band trying to manipulate people into being cool with Tilian joining again. Just gross.

Saw that band a few months ago, opening for amarionette, and they played to like 9 people. Song is massive.

Random question. Due to all the drama with DDG is the genre title Swancore still being used for this area of post-hardcore? Or is something else being used now?

 

I don’t think it matters at all what it’s called or not but I will say it seems a good lot of those bands don’t give a fuck about the DGD shit and still outwardly support and take tours with them so even if you were hoping for a name change for the scene you’re not gonna get one

 

Not that I'm very happy with the other members of this band at all, but I'm listening to Jackpot Juicier and it's incredibly better when it's just the instrumentals. So many little details that are obscured by Tilian's bog-standard vocal performance.

 

His vocals really did get so grating after enough time. Over the years I got to learn more about his personality and started paying attention to his lyrics more, and I realized I actually don’t like anything about said dude. Just basically loved the band’s style and knew a left-field vocalist has always worked for them so it made me forgiving for the squeaking and flat crooning. When it comes to creativity, pitch, and just general all-around appeal, he’s pretty trash at singing and would not even remotely be notable as a singer if not for having joined a soap opera scene band that was already decently established.

 

i think he finally started having pretty actually great melodies the last two albums. hate all the chipmunk harmonies though and actively got annoyed at them alot.

Body Thief doesn’t surprise me as their latest record includes a DGD reference in the lyrics

I’m the most disappointed to see Dwellings on here as they are my DGD replacement and I’m anticipating their new album heavily. I have doubts they’d drop this tour but I can hope.

 

I like Within Destruction a bit, so it's disappointing seeing them on that for sure.

That is also one of the weakest lineups I've seen in a while.
