It sucks that women, queer artists, POCs, and most non white dudes struggle to gain recognition in the music scene, any genre (but specifically post hardcore in this instance), yet dudes who are literal abusers get repeated chances and passes and face no real repercussions.

 

Tilian's statement is, remarkably, much much worse

Incredibly disappointing to say the least. I've been a fan for years, but distanced myself once all of this came to light. Guess it's going to stay that way for good.

 

Reminds me of the Tiny Moving Parts situation where Dylan just took a week off for therapy then went right back to touring again.

 

Amazing how brave he was to stand up to those allegations of non-consensual substance abuse.

Not surprised to see it go this way but certainly have no interest anymore in this band or any side projects.

Imagining all the guys signing on to post that message and bring him back after reading the accounts of those women. Insane.

At least TMP donated a tour’s worth of proceeds to rape and domestic abuse survivors associations and brought out awareness groups for I believe several tours. Tilian just took a tour off and surprise! He’s back and is now denying the shit he said before he left.

 

absolute slap in the face to those of us like me in actual addiction recovery to use it as a cover for the real issue: sexual assault. you KNOW I’m as sympathetic as it gets if someone’s addiction drives them to act in ways contrary to their usual self but that is NOT what happened here at all it was never even mentioned he was stepping away for substance abuse counseling, they JUST added that into the mix to muddy the waters and make the actual problem of sexual assault slide into the background. I’m so fucking disgusted especially when their band mate is currently dead in the ground from addiction. you’d think they’d know better.

If anyone also intends to ditch DGD but wants an alternative, I've got a 200+ song playlist here of bands doing the same thing but not one song on there is by DGD or involves Tilian (to my knowledge).

I'll get around to removing any DGD member side-projects from there in the next few days, but hopefully you'll find some new bands in there that scratch that itch sonically but doesn't have any trash members.
