Does Barnes still have a shot in Wisconsin? I'm seeing some conflicting numbers, for example in Milwaukee I see the same vote count reported but one place saying it's 91% of the vote and another saying it's only 82%.

If DeSantis were smart and really wants to run in 2024 he needs to come out today, or once this is all over, and blame the relative republican loss fully on Trump. Tout his numbers, and the overall performance in Florida, and just be like "I'd rather be a sanctimonious winner than a narcissistic loser. Trump lost the popular vote in 2016, got his ass handed to him in 2018, lost outright in 2020, and picked nothing but losers in 2022. He lost again, he's a loser, that's what he does."

I need someone to articulate the difference between winning a governor race and a Senate race because it is so weird how these splits keep happening at the state level. Kansas and Vermont!

I didn't think far enough ahead with the trump going third party thing - I was just looking at DeSantis and trump hurting each other in the primary and that being a good thing. trump making up a TRUTH party or some shit would be fucking incredible and honestly feels too good to be true.

A lot of people believe that bullshit that Elon Musk was spouting the other day, that somehow a divided federal government is better and they don't want to give too much power to either party so things don't go too far in either direction and the federal government (ostensibly) has less of an effect on their day-to-day lives in that scenario.

Governors, on the other hand, are actually needed to get shit done in a state and have a more-direct effect on people's lives and they want someone who will do something for them.

I know it is still early, but looking at the overall picture, it really does seem to be a repudiation of trump and even more specifically his election denial big lie bullshit in a huge way. Maybe I'm just on a high because I was honestly expecting a fucking bloodbath for the Democrats.

It requires him to give up, at least somewhat, on the election denialism bullshit, but right now there's kind of a power vacuum in the GOP and that's only going to last a few days to a week before Trump announces. And he'll do so with a message of "this party is a mess and you need me to come save it".

If I were DeSantis I would cut that off and use this as an opportunity to brand him a loser and boost myself before Trump can declare himself the savior. Republican voters who may not pay much attention to Florida will then see how well DeSantis and the GOP did there compared to the rest of the country and then get behind him. He can then cherry pick the best* parts of Trump's agenda and use that to peel off more Trump supporters.

    *I really mean worst.

They gave republicans an average of 230 seats

Right now its looking like its gonna be about 225

Seems pretty accurate to me. Definitely far better than RCP did.

Also I'm pretty sure the main thing their "Deluxe" model did was factor in the RCP "expert" projections for each race.

Before last night, I did not think that DeSantis wanted to move this quickly, I thought he thought it was a little premature and he was still feeling out how the rest of the country GOP party felt about trump - but right now at this moment trump looks extremely weak and DeSantis looks extremely strong. If he is going to go for it I can't see waiting and letting this moment pass as anything other than a huge mistake.

Dems winning Arizona and Nevada would be the prime outcome, makes that Georgia race worthless in the eyes of a lot of Republicans.
