Carly Rae Jepsen - The Loneliest Time (October 21,2022) Album • Page 15

Discussion in 'Music Forum' started by iCarly Rae Jepsen, Aug 2, 2022.

  1. Completely forgot this came out Friday, finally got around to it last night. Super fun record, loving the dynamics at play here. She’s good at the four on the floor dance pop anthems but she really shines when she strays from that, which there is plenty of here. Makes for a great front to back listen even if there are a couple songs I’m not immediately that into

I'm so obsessed with the title track and it may be my fave song this year or towards the top. It's so fun to listen to on the treadmill. But surrender my heart is def up there too.

For a second I thought This Kiss was an opener and was gonna say all her openers are outstanding. Tiny lil bows is okay but doesn't bring the same heat tho imo

After my second listen yeah this might be one of her best. The basslines on Dedicated were good but they’re also great on this. Shooting Star is my current fav

Find Yourself -> Loneliest Time is such an undoubtedly strong way to close out a record. cant believe how much this album continues to impress me

We’ve been working on this a while. It’s going to be fun! Renting out a really beautiful theatre to shoot the music video live with an audience.

Me too, I bargained with someone to sell me a ticket for cheap so now I’ll be there!

Damn, i would’ve hit you up to say hey if i hadn’t just now checked back in on Chorus lol

show was incredible. CRJ crowds are really something special. Felt like everyone around me knew pretty much every word. Idk that I’ve ever seen an audience get more hyped for a song than ‘Cut to the Feeling’. Was also very happy to see that Western Wind, Surrender My Heart, Talking or Yourself, and the title track all already seem like classics to the crowd. 10/10 show, running on such a high after that.

this woman is churning out 23-28 song sets every other evening with amazing musicians, huge stage production and witty, sincere interactions with the crowd. also the album is objectivelly better than the other big pop release from that day, and i turned a swiftie friend who was lukewarm on midnights into a CRJ stan with little effort - played "talking to yourself" and she was sold. feels good

Yeah i don’t want to shit on the music anyone likes, and there’s pretty big aesthetic/stylistic differences between swift and crj so it doesn’t make the most sense to compare the two, but swift’s music has always been very mediocre to me and - if you’re committed to comparing - i can’t understand the mindset of preferring midnights to this.

Carly at no point mentioned sexy babies on here so it wins by default

I love the title track to this so much, starting to get more into the whole thing. Already starting to regret not seeing her this weekend

I honestly can’t believe I’m saying this, but more time spent with this record has me thinking it’s her best. Feel like the production (sans the silly 2013 male vocals on beach house, which admittedly ruled live) is top notch, her lyrics and vocal performances are stellar, and there’s a perfect balance of bangers and moody tracks. Top 3 records of the year for me.

I think I like every Carly album more than every Taylor album.

It's hard to decide whether I like Kiss more than Folklore, but that's mostly just because the use cases are so different.

I like both, but they scratch different itches. I feel like Carly's music is more in line with, like, Dua Lipa than Taylor. The only real similarity is unfortunately Scooter Braun.

Carly and Taylor are two of my all time favourites so it's hard to compare them, nor should they be because they both rule

But I will say I think The Loneliest Time has/is hitting me a looot stronger than Midnights has so far. But I love both artists so much lol

If anyone can catch her on this tour definitely do it. She's so much fun and the crowds seem great. I like both her and taylor and I do feel like for the most part they occupy different spaces in pop so they're hard to compare, but this may be my aoty so far. I went back and listened to Kiss again for the first time in a while thinking it may not have held up but it holds up so well and is just as fun.

Also I feel like my comment on tiktok about her went sorta viral. I made an unoriginal joke about her being the prime minister of pop and it's still getting likes weeks later so ur now in the presence of an influencer :nails:
