Player's Log: Ken Follett's The Pillars Of The Earth.

I only just started this game tonight, completing the prologue and the first little bit of Chapter 1. It's actually based on a book and the game is divided into three episodes, each of which covers several chapters of the book. It's really interesting that a developer decided to do an adaptation in this way, and I wish more books could be adapted in a similar fashion.

The gameplay feels very much like a Telltale game, in that it's a mix of typical point and click gameplay as well as timed dialogue choices and small QTE events, except unlike a Telltale game, it's 2D and has a very detailed art style.

One thing that I've noticed that really intrigues me is the fact that characters you're not interacting with will have their own side conversations as you're moving around. It makes me want to stop and hang around and eavesdrop. I like it cause it adds to the life of the world, to think that things are being said when I'm not around to hear.

As an example, I walked by this one pair and as I did, one said to the other "Go on, ask him" and the other said back "You ask him". I continued walking on by and the first guy said "Alright, next time ask him." I'm curious what they wanted to ask me...

 

extremely rough start to monster hunter rise, the game did a bad job of explaining the difference between the hub and village quests, so I jumped right into some hub monster hunts and could not get anything down within the 50 minutes and was struggling badly to stay alive, coming right off world and having no problems for the first 10 hours of that game I knew something was wrong, turns out the village is for solo play and there was an entire tutorial quest they send you on out there before you’re supposed to do anything else lol. two hours wasted besides all the materials I got lol


lol yeah go figure the village quests are simple as fuck

 

but otherwise I dig the game a lot, def more built for a handheld than the scope of world but of course this series was a hand held series for a few years so it’s pulled off very well. I wanna go back and get the DS games sometime too just for funnies

 

Isla from EZA was hyping it up I believe

 

I MIGHT get MW2 remake cuz I need a new shooter and would be fun to play in between God of War. Will wait for reviews

 

I will continue to buy physical media until I physically can't

 

holy fuck it looks SO GOOD

 

I will probably pick up CoD on the next sale. A lot of people on my timeline are showing videos and it looks great. Also, holy hell playstation.

I hate to say it but I'm not really feeling this Rose DLC for RE Village. Just seems banal and frankly annoying.

that said it might be worth grabbing it during a sale if you really want to re-play Re8 in third person
