My guess? Blink-182 doesn't want to play after Green Day.

And given that Mark thinks sets should cap out at 90 minutes? They'd be fine playing 60 whereas Green Day would almost definitely want to play 75-90 (honestly, they'd want to do longer but... festivals).

  5. Wouldn’t be the first time

Yea, the side stages were more my taste. It wasn't intentional to stay away from main, I just wanted to see more on Checkers/Stripe. Only bands I really missed on mains that I wish I was able to squeeze in were more of the Used and pierce the veil (I choose glassjaw which was 100% the smallest crowd size I saw over at those stages) and it sounds like pierce the veils set was one of the most mentioned.

If y’all are really planning a chorus meetup then make sure to do it ahead of time, because I promise your phones will be essentially non-functional the entire time you’re at the festival. Could barely regroup with the people I went with let alone people from the internet

  8. Yeah when I got there on Saturday, my phone didn’t work whatsoever on the side of the entrance gate. But it worked fine on the side behind the pink stage. But mannnnn when I was at that Hawthorne Heights pop up show, nothing worked whatsoever.

    Things have changed.

I surmise with fewer acts this year, they'll give blink 15 more minutes to get to 75 vs. Paramore's 60. And maybe even bump Green Day's time up to 1:30 or 1:40.

If you have to ask, you can't afford it

I can't find any footage of SOTY's set- did they mainly stick to Page Ave stuff? I'm guessing there was nothing off Black Swan or probably even Wolves

  13. I thought everyone that I saw had a great setlist for the most part and really played the older stuff instead of the new. Exception for me was the wonder years, I only know the upsides and suburbia and maybe they played one song off those.

Seconded the above for SOTY. It looks accurate from what I remember. I knew they played real life which was a bummer as I prefer the other new song (tear me to pieces) better. Every band that I saw had mostly predictable set lists where you knew the opener and closer, and then would guess most of the middle. Senses Fail did a cool unexpected cover medley though.

I did want more old stuff from BMTH, they basically did a 'tour' setlist and didn't give in to the nostalgia factor at all but again, that was predictable. I would have liked Chelsea Smile and it never ends to have made the setlist. They could have thrown it way back and done a lot like Vegas.

Also are Paramore notorious for not playing all i wanted live or something? How did people instantly know that they had never played it before? Sure, I know when I'm getting deep cuts, but I don't think I'd know for any band that they were playing something for the first time, unless they were super vocal about not playing it or something.

    It's chaos. Be kind. Prestigious

I think part of the Paramore thing has to deal with All I Wanted getting a second wind on TikTok, which probably sparked that conversation.

    Sending my love

Okay now that I've had a few days to relax and reflect, a few thoughts...

-Don't trust any lines. There was a huge line around the block that looked like an entry line but it was really just foot traffic. It only took about 5 minutes to get through security once we actually got to the entrance. EDIT: Also, don't wait in the 21+ wristband lines - look for the employees in orange vests around those booths instead.

-Security was super lax. Probably way too lax. Both times I went in (around 12:30pm and again around 9pm), they didn't even look in my bag.

-Lines for food and merch are pretty long and really contribute to getting through the crowd a little tough, but other than that, getting around the festival wasn't bad.

-Only one real bottleneck was trying to leave the GA pit after Avril and got stuck in a jam near the bathrooms/exit.

-I assume the late addition of the GA pit area is what caused some of the confusion. Since it seemed to be unadvertised, it wasn't all that packed when we entered right as AFI was starting, and stayed there through Avril. This was a prime spot for the Black Stage and could easily watch sets from the Pink stage too. Highly recommend, although I'm sure it got way too packed by the end of the night.

-I didn't experience sound issues on any of the main stages. We were kinda far back for BMTH, Paramore, and MCR and thought it was totally fine. Would have been nice if the screens were taller and/or higher, but they were probably lower because of the wind?

-I liked the setup of the Neon Tent but the sound was way too low, perhaps because of sound bleed from the main stages.

-We left to go to Circus Circus for a bit around 8:30pm - definitely recommend this if you need a quick break, to use both better bathrooms and probably would have been a better option for food. Bought some shooters to bring back for the headliners

=Paramore opening with All I Wanted blew my mind, and then they really attacked me by playing Last Hope and Hayley giving that speech (plus the handwritten letter she shared)

-MCR coming out in Revenge gear slayed me, and made it even better once I realized they were wearing the old man prosthetics (although I didn't realize until about 1/4 of the way in, couldn't quite tell from the video screens that far back).

-I got to see partial sets from Hawthorne Heights, Boys Like Girls, The Used, and Bring Me The Horizon. Saw full sets from We The Kings, 3oh!3, AFI, Jimmy Eat World, Taking Back Sunday, A Day to Remember, Avril Lavigne, Paramore, and MCR. Wish I could have seen The Maine, PVRIS, All-American Rejects, and Palaye Royale but wasn't able to because getting to those stages would have been too far, or because of set conflicts.

Overall, had a really enjoyable time at the festival. Bathrooms and water refilling weren't a problem at all, the turf on the ground was awesome because it softened the blow on your feet, there was shade, and the cool weather made it really enjoyable. Plus, I thought all the bands I saw put on great sets and I saw all the songs I wanted to see. Definitely will go again in 2023 if they announce a 2nd day.

  17. Yeah, as a pretty big Paramore fan it's known that Hayley was worried about performing it live. Or I should say, it's been an internet legend that that is the reason it's never been performed. Either way, the song was kind of famous for that, on top of just being an excellent song.

  18. I might try VIP for the second day If it gets added and get a cheap stub hub ticket for day 1. Use day 1 to see bands at smaller stages and get merch and what not.

  19. So true re: security not checking bags. I brought a non-transparent Camelbak and the guy basically only checked to make sure it actually had a water reservoir and wasn’t just a regular backpack. Didn’t bother checking the other two pockets. The metal detector also went off when I went through it and he couldn’t have given less of a shit

I'll say this, just because I've seen the entry line thing come up a few times: We got there pretty early and were directed by event staff into a very long and winding line that spanned several blocks. At a certain point - maybe 30-45 minutes before the first set times, the line came to a complete standstill and no one knew what was going on. Apparently lots of folks weren't aware of what the line was or didn't want to wait in it, so they started going right in the entrance ahead of the line.

Fortunately we realized what was going on and were able to make our way in just after 12pm to catch the first sets. But that was my only main gripe of the event was how poorly they handled that. So yeah, I guess if you see a line at the entry, just ignore it?

I was having a borderline anxiety attack that we were going to miss Saosin at 12:20. Fortunately, crisis averted!

what are the odds of being able to sneak in with tickets for the wrong date?

  24. There are stories in reddit of people sneaking in. Who knows if they are true. But security is pretty lax.

  25. I walked past two separate cops with megaphones on my way in warning those that tried to do this that they would not get in. Security issues taken into account, this seems like something high up on their radar
