Idk I do think that the almost pathological cynicism pitchfork has been engaging in for over a decade hasn’t exactly been “helpful” either.

that said obvs don’t do harassment but music would be a better place w/o p4k

It's awful. These people are completely unable to accept that there are valid criticisms of their favs (as there are of most music), or that their favs might make albums that vary in quality.

Didn't see this mentioned yet after a quick thread search...

Karma chorus is way too similar to the chorus of CSS's "Music is My Hot Hot Sex". She even starts it out with "... is my boyfriend". Feels like an unintentional rip off to me

Ya, gotta disagree with that criticism of pitchfork myself. P4k is maybe the internet center of poptimism now and has embraced the monoculture. I don’t think they’ve been theatrically cynical since the early 2010s. Once in a while that will peak through, but for the most part I feel like they cover primarily mainstream music and give everything that isn’t garbage a 7 or an 8.

it’s better in some ways now and worse in some ways now and I have a hard time telling how much is conde naste and how much is that indie rock is a past prime genre.

Hating on Pitchfork is the millennial equivalent of talking about avocado toast and soy lattes, it's been done

And dismissing negative commentary as hating is…?

finally spinning my vinyl copy of this while i get work done. closed the blinds tight, turned the lights out, and put a 4 hour night time driving video on the TV. feels fitting in a way.

This is bizarre, it does have a striking resemblance.

I've been seeing this all over tiktok and I just have to know, is "Bigger than the sky" about Taylor losing a pregnancy?

Cause this song is fucking destroying me.

It's certainly about someone losing a pregnancy. Whether it's a situation she personally went through or about a friend or just made up is honestly a little gross to speculate on IMO.

Just got an answer from my uber swiftie friend that the song is about Taylors friend who lost a baby in March.

Still fucking heartbreaking. I've never related to a song about pregnancy loss so much in my life.

Question and Vigilante Shit are getting worse on subsequent listens. The rest is growing for the most part. Question is so clunky, and that chorus line is starting to stand out in a bad way.

I can actually listen to Vigilante Shit now, it’s my least favorite still but skipping one song out of 20 is feeling weird now, anyway this album is getting rotated with The 1975, obsessed with both. The Great War and Would’ve, Could’ve, Should’ve are hitting hardest out of the 3 AM stuff, there’s very little chance I could afford to go to the tour but these last 3 albums are just so good, gonna have to at least make an effort

The chorus of "Hit Different" is like one of my favorite choruses ever. Would've been the best Vault track on Fearless.

Question is great imo but the lyrics in the chorus are pretty weak, the melody is great though and the verses make up for it (the fuckin’s in this song work really well imo, something about the delivery)

“Vigilante Shit” is definitely the worst song on the album.

Anti-Hero is probably going to be my favorite off this album for sure. I still need another week to play it at least once a day to get a good feel for everything but so far, that's the song I relate to the most.

yeah I liked it on first listen and now I’d say it’s a borderline skip, the chorus is outright bad imo. Vigilante Shit is definitely not great, but it’s interesting enough. I like it better than a few of the bonus tracks.
