EDIT: I’m a little unsure of the timing of it all, but if these two songs were in the mix for Horizons/East, the lads made a mistake leaving them off the album. They absolutely rule.

 

I am enjoying the band saying it over and over again and people still being like "but this is west"

am I crazy or did Thrice at one point say "we don't believe in the term b sides"

 

I mean west will be a hell of a record. It hasn't been cancelled. You seem to be confused/ misinformed.

 

I am legitimately confused about what these songs are building to. Dustin recently said they have an entire album coming soon that is not related to Horizons and this seems to be both separate from that and not West. It's cool to see bands doing more one-off releases that don't result in a full length. Catching up to the rest of the music world.

 

I'm guessing it was a timing thing, they may have just been fragments of what they ended up being and they didn't have time to finish them in time for the record.

Glad we got them, regardless, now I want a double A-side 7-inch.

 

Yeah it's interesting getting this bonus east material. I would imagine it's pretty freeing for them to just release one-offs and stuff and let it be what it is. I don't usually have as strong of a connection to a single song as to a album, but I'm all for the band going with where the energy is. Very cool song, I'm excited to listen again.

Thrice having their own studio space and producing skills has really turned out well for us.

 

Thrice often says that they don't believe in B-sides, but if you really want songs like "Open Your Eyes and Dream" to be treated like A-sides, why not play it in the current set?

 

Probably because they’ve been doing a co-headliner, which obviously means playing a shorter set
