So excited for this. Unfortunately I won’t get my record until my order is ready at Luna when Weyes Blood drops.

Going to need a proper listen with my good headphones later but so far Hello You is my early highlight

love how "sculptures of anything goes" teases a whole other "horrible new sound". Third vibes

  4. also the 'puncturing your bubble of relatability with your horrible new sound' line had me in stitches lol

Sculptures is my favorite at the moment. Also "village coffee mornings with not long since retired spies" weirdly describes the overall vibe of this record so well lol, like that's 100% the scene I picture as I listen to this album.

this album is definitely a coffee in the morning vibe. Good counterpart to the bourbon at midnight vibes from TBHC.

This album has a nice relaxing vibe to it. Floating along on the sound of TBH&C but it lands a lot quicker. For now, I like the first half the most. Let's give a lot more listens in the next weeks and see where it ends in their discography.

Not vibing with this unfortunately, same for TBH&C.

Interesting to hear how much influence Jamie has on their recording - I guess he's the brainchild of Sculptures as well. I've always assumed he was a bit of a tag along but seems like he's a lot more involved than I suspected

I’m really indifferent on this one. Not a lot is sticking after multiple listens.

i think he had a pretty huge role with the band through the first two albums but, yeah, as they've gotten more ambitious they've kind of moved beyond his talent. i think he's a big focus as a writer though.

An inconsequential shift as the continents drift.

me listening to "Ain't Quite" the first time: yeah it's alright but I don't really think it's a lifechanger or anything

me ten listens deep: EYES ROLL BACK AND I CAN SEE BOTH ISLANDS NOOOOOOOOOOW

This one’s going to take some time to settle in for me, but that’s okay.

  19. Alright I couldn't get into Tranquility but I'm fully in on the direction they've taken this time. It's a bit out of my comfort zone music wise but I can already envision so many settings in which these songs will blossom. There's just something really pleasant about the vibe here.

"perfect sense" a sneakily great closer...at first I thought it seemed a bit slight but I the way dawn finally seems to break with "sometimes I wrap my head around it all / and it makes perfect sense / keep reminding me that it's not a race" - I think the real connective tissue btwn their recent work is that alex monkey is obviously a cinephile, and it's intensely cinematic songwriting.
