I just realized my copy of North is still sealed somehow. Now the debate if it’s worth keeping/opening or selling now that it’s worth so much.

That's awesome for anyone who missed / couldn't afford the box set! 3 albums that hold a special place in my heart for all time.

Minutes after I post that I need to halt my vinyl spending, you go and dangle one of my all time holy grails in my face! If you do end up selling please do not let me know haha

I started second guessing my physical media (in addition to vinyl and books; I'm obsessed with film and have nearly 4,000 discs) purchases a few years ago, mainly from the perspective that I could've used that same money to pay down a mortgage, invest, etc. but, yeah, life can be so depressing that, as long as I can afford it, I'm going to keep it up.

At the very least, it supports the artists I love, and encourages the production of new art.

And, I know it sounds pretentious, but I really feel that physical media collections, whether vinyl, blu-rays, etc. should be viewed with the same respect as having a personal book library. It's art. It's important. It gives life so much meaning. They can be loaned, gifted, many appreciate in value, etc. If well tended, they'll outlive all of us.

I've been there. It's ok to cool off for a bit and come back to it. It's also impactful if you start to manage your impulse to purchase a bit more closely as it typically makes the actual things you buy more meaningful.

This advice comes from someone who realized last year that they were just clicking "buy" automatically and not really getting any joy out of like they had in the past. Forced me to analyze the behavior a bit and reset.

  6. I buy less records than I used to for sure, and these days, I find it more fun to buy something spontaneous than something I know I "need" tbh

I've been taking a break from buying records online and will wait until I'm at a record shop to dive in

Just counted and I have 195 records. Think if I sold off like 40-50 i’d feel a little better. I just own so many records that I impulsively bought

  9. I don't want to look at my count because I'll probably be like 'wtf you dumbass' and I'd rather love myself today.

I moved last year and the first thing I packed was my records. I personally packed, moved and unloaded about 900 lps (including box sets) to my parents basement. I didn't trust movers moving them. Once I moved to my new house 3 months later, I loaded them all up and unloaded at my new place, in the basement.

I then realized... I was out of shape.

Seeing that MxPx repress reminded me of just how much I wish The Cootees would get a repress.

Crosley brand is notorious for being trash. A quick google search seems like this table is made by Pro-ject for Crosley so that's already a plus. I'd say if this is your first table and you just wanna spin some records every now and then it's good.

AT-LP60 should be similarly priced but a lot better right?

C6 has a counterweight which imo makes it more attractive than the LP60. Actually looks like a pretty decent cheap turntable.

According to Discogs I have 505 records. I know it doesn’t include recent purchases which really aren’t that recent.

I’m at 91 now. Though I have around 8 or so on pre order or shipping soon. I have been super casual until this summer. I’ve probably gotten 40 of mine this year alone. I went nuts.

I should probably say that 505 includes records from parents and old cross country coach. Probably 150-175 records there alone. It’s where a majority of my classics come from.
