That’s about half what the last did. And this albums singles did better. Similar trend to the latest DC4C album. Interesting.

 

The Tape Notes podcast is super interesting. Would actually love to hear a finished version of the 80's Springsteeny Part of the Band, it sounded cool.

I honestly think "The 1975" might be my favorite track after first listen. Everything about it captivated me when I hit play and didn't feel the same until the closer

 

The build of The 1975 really works for me. Sets the tone for the album nicely.

Has there been an adjustment to the streaming calculations recently? Wondering if maybe there’s an imbalance that I’m not aware of. But I’m still thinking this is largely cultural, too. The pandemic broke people.

 

In UK chart news, BFIAFL holding number 1 at present, but Red Hot Chilli Peppers coming up fast.

All five albums becoming number 1 albums would be incredible.

 

Makes sense honestly.

This band is very much the soundtrack to a very large section of the UK aged between 18-32, give or take a few years.

The music is great of course, but it’s something about the lyrics and vocal delivery in particular that are so cutting and relevant. I think the fact he is so unapologetically British in the things he talks about or his references helps to really speak to people here.

I accidentally saw them play Reading 2013 in the middle of the day on the third stage, a month before the debut album dropped, playing to a couple of hundred people tops. And I thought they would be big, but I had no idea they would grow so quickly that they would return 6 years later as headliners. Really cool to see.

 

I'd like to hear this song. Finally listened to the podcast and it's awesome! You can hear in the demos how they were going in a Notes direction and pivoted.

 

I hate to break it to you, but the last album came out during the pandemic too. I get messed up when bands have now released multiple albums since the pandemic started.

 

Im sure this has been mentioned and may be a common sentiment, but front to back, this is the first 1975 album that every track is good on. there isnt a major standout song to me that really hits me, but there also arent 8 filler bullshit spoken word instrumentals that i want to skip. really loving it.

 

This record might be my favourite since the first one. The first 6 songs on this album might be my favourite consecutive run of songs they have on any record

 

Sure, it did, but at the very beginning of it. Assuming that the cultural moment was consistent during the control period of the pandemic is ignorant. Everyone’s habits completely changed.

What I want to know is if numbers are down across the board. For example, I don’t think Phoebe does nearly as well now if Punisher came out today rather than in June 2020.
