No guys it's not even a debate.

 

Pretty sure the band wouldn’t even remotely agree with that

 

There's no way Neighbourhoods comes even remotely close to the Untitled album. Production and mixing absolutely sucks on Neighbourhoods let alone the song writing is all over given they didn't spend much time together in the same room.

Not sure what Dark Kyukon is smoking to come to that conclusion.

 

Something about Neighbourhoods depresses me when I listen to it. It feels forced (it was) and knowing how it was written hinders it in my opinion. Ghost, Natives and After Midnight are very good but the rest feels like the band going through the motions.

 

Ghost, Natives, After Midnight and Wishing Well are all great in my opinion.

 

Neighborhoods aged well though.

 

The overall change in feeling around Neighborhoods is really surprising to me, but it sort of helps explain everyone's obsession with Tom coming back before that actually happened. When it came out, the record wasn't "hated" necessarily, but the reaction to that and DED was overwhelmingly "meh". "Sounds like AvA! Sounds like +44!" Sales were disappointing, singles hardly did anything of note, the tension in the band was there the whole time.

Then out of nowhere you have people crying about wanting Tom to rejoin the band, as if they had completely forgotten that he caused them to pump out a lackluster album and EP before grinding their productivity to a halt. Every time I brought this up (on Reddit, mostly...) people would claim they LOVED Neighborhoods and would be happy with another one. It's bizarre to me, and I have no idea where that change in attitude came from but I see it all the time. Maybe it's people who just got into the band around the time of the first reunion?

That said, I hope we do not, in fact, get another Neighborhoods, but I also have no idea what sort of record is going to please this fanbase.

There's a very good EP in there though

 

Simply impossible to please the entire base because everyone wants a different version of blink

 

Reddit is merely a blip of the fans of the band (or really, anything that's talked about on that site as a whole it seems... see: Brand New, DGD, and many others when it comes to bands alone) when it comes to what people think of specific albums like that.

 

Neighborhoods is fine and folks still do too much about it on both extremes

No release pleases the fanbase. Even mark has pointed out it’s always the same pattern.

Singles and album released, haters hate
Next album cycle begins
People hate on the new album/single, suddenly are fond of the previous one

I don't think any blink lead single has gotten the slightest negative reaction aside from Youth lol
