What I also like about EDGING is that it's a band song. May sound super weird but what I mean is that it's not a song where Tom shines the most, or Mark, or Travis. Their personalities are equally presented. Travis is not proving anything on drums, but at the same time that drum parts just work perfectly. Same with everything else – guitar, bass, vocal parts. In comparison, there is "Hearts All Gone". It is a 100% Mark song, with insane Travis drum parts which to me seemed a little bit over the top. Then there is "Love Is Dangerous", which is 100% Tom song, and so on, and so forth. With this single however, no one is trying too hard, no one is proving something to bandmates and audience. And that's f-ing awesome actually. There is a "we are what we are, no shame, no fake" vibe, and it feels absolutely natural. So... This is fresh, they did not lose touch. I'm just SUPER stoked for the new Blink, and I could give a flying fuck about all the haters. Because objectively speaking they (haters) have no clue what is a good song hahahah

 

lol what’s more likely, that I was trying to not allow criticism over a song with two chords or that I was poking fun at the ridiculousness of over-analyzing the song in the first place? I’m trying to have fun in here.

And I totally get the lyrics, they're singing about the upcoming tour (wanna play / hit the road), their fanbase (im only letting you down / get the rope / etc), and their legacy and never-ending drama (oh no look at the mess we started). Not some placeholder bs if you ask me. Love it, love it, love it

 

Haha my bad. I had skipped pages of posts and thought we were just talking about those tweets saying they would have sent the song back. Like, yeah I would have done plenty different on the song too but I’m not in their position so what do I know? There’s been plenty of critiques on the song in this thread the last few days (rightly so) but most of us are just having fun with it. There’s hardly enough to it to dissect though.

 

Skiba, Mark, Travis, Tom. Scott’s like WTF? Original lineup my ass.

 

Serious question though…does Scott still make any money from Blink?

 

I think Natives should have been the first single. Best song on the album and also catchy as fuck. Great lyrics from both Mark and Tom. I also wish Fighting the Gravity got more love

 

Natives is dope from an instrumental perspective, but the vocal melody of the chorus is too monotone to be a hit single imo

Fighting The Gravity is great and I don't know how any +44 fan could dislike it

 

Probably still gets cuts on songs played on the radio/movies/TV/streaming until he left the band. So anything from Buddha to Dude Ranch.

 

Just want to take a quick second to shout out In Transit as one of the best songs Mark's written :P

 

he has songwriting credits on every Cheshire and Dude Ranch song, so he still collects on album sales, streaming and live performance royalties for those songs

 

So i made a sped up version of Edging (160bpm, made sure to retain the pitch of the original) and i think this makes the song 1 million times better.

They largely ignored Neighborhoods with Matt, I imagine they’ll ignore Nine with Tom

 

Why call me an asshole? I was just reporting what I heard dude which was people had genuine concern for him… it was great to see his Instagram message after that but you never know what’s going on beneath the surface.

 

He’s just so happy lol

 

I know Mark commented on his discord about Matt, and Tom had his post…but in todays social media age it’s not weird to think Matt’s post was somehow influenced by the blink camp and $$$. “Heres 10k, post our single artwork with a nice message.” That’s not what I think/hope happened. These are middle aged men who all have built unbelievable careers in the music industry, run into the same people, and hopefully fully respect each others success. I’ve loved every iteration of blink, just want new music, live music, and to see everyone involved happy and dedicated to the project.

 

This ACTUALLY rips. Really really great stuff.

Would suck if that was the truth… he probably had the world around him telling him to respond to Tom’s post. Truly hope he is doing well.
