Totally agree that the pop punk era 2023 is aiming at wasnt as big a phenomena as the emo era that this year's fest is aiming towards. However, it's the headliners in Green Day and Blink 182 that is gonna make it a (possibly bigger) success.
Green Day just did a stadium tour, Blink 182 riding high on this very profitable reunion tour. MCR and Paramore are certainly big, but these two are on another level in their ability to move tickets.

Another thing, and maybe I’m wrong about this, is that other than Yellowcard and Something Corporate, I feel like most of the 2023 acts never really went away? I feel like I’ve seen tons of those bands multiple times without specifically going for them.

it’s probably just more with I was for sure the target demo more for this years than next. The band list this year like perfectly represented my high school years.

Honestly, I don't think either line-up offers anything special beyond a small handful of reunion acts. And in the case of the 2023 line-up, I'd assume both Yellowcard and SoCo are going to do at least one single US run.

The appeal seems to be primarily from people who don't usually go to shows anymore (or who didn't go to shows earlier in life) and want to tick a bunch of bands off their checklist in a single weekend. Or to see that one song by that one band. It's not so much whether or not bands are active/went away, but the economy of scale behind the whole thing. The wallop of seeing that many bands you like on one poster.

Which is all well and good. I just feel bad because conflicts are inevitably going to fuck their shit up when the schedule drops.

EDIT: And the 2023 line-up definitely skews more Warped Tour '02-'06 than the 2022 line-up. But it's still a pretty similar demo, IMHO. I think it's the headliners that just skew it a bit.

So your bag must be clear. But I also don't want to carry some sort of clear tote around. I would love to just do a clear drawstring bag, however "backpacks" are prohibited. So I'm very torn on what bag I can bring that I can just wear instead of carry.

So pre sale. I clicked the thing to get a code but it just takes me to my text screen. Am I doing it wrong ?

  9. I think you can bring clear backpacks. It's no backpacks unless they are clear plastic and vinyl. That's how I read it.

are you thinking of Mest? (if somebody already said this, my bad)

Will from Fenix TX had a stroke, I believe, a while back so it's great to see he's able to get back out and play a show at least.

  12. Yep it was mest. Can't keep all these bands straight anymore.

for anyone worried about crowds... it uh, looks like it's going be insane. Pictures are up on the reddit forum of the friends and lovers fest which was the same organizer and same set up, and it looks like it'll be tough getting between stages. The only difference is that on IG, wwwy fest fans complained about VIP area being too big so it shrank a little for this one.

I don't mind crowds and I've been to festivals before, but even then, this looks it could be a whole other level of crowded but it is what it is. I'm locked in and it'll be the experience that it is, good or bad.

FYI - standby page is open for this year. SMALLTHINGS is the presale code.

Yeah, I'm preparing myself for the worst here. I have very low expectations for this

  16. what's this "tickets starting at $19.99 down" business?

Down payment at today's checkout and then they charge you monthly after. They did this for this year's too

If there is enough counter-programming, crowds shouldn't be that bad. I think the way to do this fest, if you love the lineup, is to do two days GA and just check out the bands you missed on Day 1 on Day 2.

I will be surprised if this sells out but seeing people talking about what they will wear 6 months ahead of the fest and people booking hotels a year in advance makes me thing again. If Saturday goes well next week then I will probably buy a ticket for 2023 when I get home.

I'd bet anything this goes to 2 days like last year, if not 3 but 100% 2 days with both selling out in no time (30 mins max). There may be a massive dump of tickets if the story from next weekend is 'fest was too crowded/not enough food/beer/water etc' but as far as hype and day 1 sales? It's selling out no doubt.

And yea, I'm one of the people who has a hotel booked for 2023 haha but I'm also a glutton for Vegas. This will be my 7th time going in the last 12 years so this is really just an excuse to go to Vegas again with my friends.

Id like to think that 2022 they can work out kinks and 2023 all is good. As I mentioned previously, we still don't have set times for 2022

I feel like they also rushed to release the tickets before the Adjacent fest lineup was announced to catch more people.

  25. Not gonna jump on tickets for next year. People will buy them and realize flights and hotels are expensive when they go to book next year and I'll swoop in on StubHub and get one for 100 bucks.
