Just on this then - how are those resale sites working? Resale sites in the UK only sell paper or eTickets (i.e. PDFs). You don't interact with the seller, nor can they provide an account to log-in to. That kind of thing seems at the very edge of what most people would do anyway? Not as many people would trust buying from a random listing where someone directly sends you account details, nor have I ever seen anything like that, outside of maybe Facebook or Craigslist..

Also, for what it's worth, I think the Dice app, you log in with your phone number, so its not something you can just transfer.

With Ticketmaster, as soon as you purchase your tickets, they're available in your account. There's typically two options from the event page - transfer or sell. Sell is only active if that particular event/venue allows resale via Ticketmaster. If you do that, your tickets will just post to the map alongside box office inventory at the price you set. You do nothing. If they sell, Ticketmaster removes the tickets from your account and gives them to the buyer, and you get paid.

If you're using a third party resale site (StubHub, VividSeats, SeatGeek, TickPick are the big guys), you list your tickets. Someone buys them. The site you're using sends you an email with the buyer's name and email address. You go into your Ticketmaster account, manually forward the tickets to the name and address provided, take a screenshot for proof, and upload it to the reseller's platform for them to verify. Buyer gets a Ticketmaster email, clicks the link, accepts the tickets, and they're now in their account and gone from yours. It's pretty seamless. It's actually cut down dramatically on fraud, because you can't fake a transfer like you could a hard or PDF ticket. And because most places don't accept simple screenshots, you're guaranteed to be walking up to the venue the night of the show with the tickets in your personal Ticketmaster account, just like you bought them yourself on on-sale day.

Occasionally, the resale platforms will act an intermediary and have you forward the tickets to them, and which point they then forward to the buyer, but most don't do that anymore.

At this point, all of these platforms have overtaken Ticketmaster in terms of general site presentation/buying experience/support. So much so, in fact, that SeatGeek has become the box office for several major venues (Barclays in Brooklyn and AT&T Stadium in Dallas being two of the most prominent.) They're both a reseller and the primary market now, and unsurprisingly, they still do the whole thing better than Ticketmaster.

Oh god, that's awful. Resale just doesn't work like that in the UK. Not since eBay days could you do that. Either you sell with an eTicket or paper ticket.

Either way, if TM limited to face-value only resales, and no sending of tickets to family or friends, that would be a good start. That doesn't stop burner accounts but I imagine its a case of adding as many deterrents there to make it impractical at scale.

    Things have changed.

The tickets in my account aren't able to be re-sold on Ticketmaster – at least not now. Doesn't stop people from selling them elsewhere, though, obviously.

Yeah, more and more tickets are not immediately available to sell or even available in your account until a week or two before the event. But yes, every secondary market allows you to say when you'll have your tickets in hand for transfer.

  8. Well that was a waste of $50

This is what I literally told people on Reddit probably a dozen times after the 30th anniversary fiasco. Basically "Did you ever think maybe there ARE things in motion in the background but they still have a chance to fall through?" We all knew it the signs were pointing towards Tom being back, but people didn't understand why they wouldn't just come out and say it.

A single dropping right as their massive world tour sells out and a music video directed by Cole Bennett.....even if half their fanbase hates the song this'll probably be their best first week charting since Up All Night.

Yeah, that just means the venue isn’t activating or that they’re waiting for the general on sale to pass. Typically, they don’t activate until that point anyway. But, like you said, you always have the option to manually transfer.

Um.......that's not what I meant at all. We all just have to face facts that super popular acts playing concerts nowadays are premium events and, unfortunately, may not always be within the reach of everyone. Additionally, if you just want to get in the building at any of these shows, I don't believe the price is that astronomical that people are locked out. If you want to be right up front then, yes, that will be pricey as it should be. The back row and front row should not cost the same.

I remember them doing interviews and stuff during the first reunion but this feels soooo much more impactful and it’s only been two days lol. Maybe it just seems this way in the moment and did at the time, idk

  14. Yep. He's saying almost exactly what I had heard from around that time period.
But, I did decide to throw out some feelers to some of my old contacts in the industry to see what I could discover. What I found is nothing that surprising, but from little birdies I trust, I hear that as of right now, the band members themselves do not know exactly what the future holds. Some contacts on the touring side have heard of a tour for next year being floated and discussed in meetings, but no dates are currently in the system. And I’ve heard there was talk of it being an untitled record anniversary tour, and I’ve heard one name tossed around as a potential opener that I, personally, would be stoaked as hell on. And, lastly, I’ve heard no decision has been made on if it would be a three or four-piece.

I do wonder if being a four-piece was ever seriously considered…

Same here. Blink makes me feel young and excited again, and besides Blink it’s… ehhmmm… well, it’s no other band. Unfortunately. Brand New, AF, and Kanye could do it for me too, to some degree. Sure thing that was until all the sh-t came out (Kanye was problematic for a long time, but now it’s just unbearable). And I’m checking tons of new music and artists, just because of my semipro involvement in local music production industry. (from time to time I write songs and sometimes I’m lucky to sell them to
Ukrainian pop artists, from indie ones to quite big ones; so it’s sort of… “required” to keep up with new stuff).

And still, only Blink makes me feel this joy. Blaming it on my youth, definitely.

I loved the new single. Definitely a grower. Definitely catchy. But what’s more important it feels so natural. Like it was written in a friendly atmosphere, and that what matters too. For me at least.

Hope we’ll kick ruzzian ass till 2023. Well, I’m pretty damn sure we will, and that’s why I bought tickets to Lisbon show.

Do or do not, there is no try.

No idea what the fox is for it but Ticketmaster really do suck. I just paid £180 per ticket, for not ideal seats, that cost £92 yesterday. Odd seats have been popping up throughout the day in presale, so bit the bullet the second it would let me. They call them “Gold VIP”.. they are literally just general seats.

Didn't someone say all four were spotted practicing together? I guess they must have considered it at some point.

Paramore fans are pissed about that? That's the best possible method. It's not necessarily apples to apples because Paramore's tour is an underplay tour whereas MCR were multi-night arena stints but i think MCR did it best in that they priced their tickets at market value and, days leading up to the show, secondary markets were all around what tickets were priced except for a few major markets.

  24. Yeah, if you look on their reddit you'll see lots of ticket posts. Doesn't seem to have worked very well in quite a few places. Unsure why.
