He really isn't. The amount of people behind the scenes that have put this together contractually is way above our heads. It isn't just Mark calling venues like, "Hi, we'd like to play, please."

I agree, more should be done - but again, it's regional. From the sounds of it, the entire concert industry model needs rethinking over there.

I agree with your second point! But Mark is not quite as powerless as you’re making him out to be.

The tickets are clearly selling despite the price so I doubt they’re that bothered

Nice message from Tom. Altought I wish Matt had stayed and I don’t really like the “the band is back” vibe since well, the band didn’t break up. But I also understand their side and maybe they want it to be just the three of them for old times sake. Still, I will miss Skiba.

100% Tours/Music should be affordable to everyone however not sure how much you can hold the band members accountable for the pricing.

Also, I hope they release some studio footage. I need to see these dudes in the studio riffing.

Just thinking out loud - boy, would I love a Skiba feature on the new album.

The chorus totally reminds me of No Future's chorus

That's what I'm saying. It's a bummer. But I mean, if you charge 800% more for tickets than a few years ago and people are still buying them up the first chance they get.....then why would you even consider doing it differently?

I mean, they ARE in a position to take a stand, but they've never been a band to do that. Just look at the people they bring out on tour or who they choose to feature on songs for.

  19. I'm curious what the ideal version for tickets are. Paramore said only fan face-value resell (where legal), and their fans have been pissed about it for various reasons. No dynamic pricing and the second hand market is bananas like the MCR tour got and people were pissed about that. Dynamic pricing and people are mad up front, but second hand market should be better later.

Three tours, three different methods, mad fans at each one. What's the ideal version for fans and the artists?

Insane that Skiba was in Blink for 7 years.

I am still split on California, but Nine imo is one of the best blink records. Happy Tom's back, but in order to acknowledge the past years I think they really should incorporate 3-4 songs from the last 2 records into their live shows. Curious to see if Tom's ego could handle learning and playing e.g.:

    Bored to death
    She's out of her mind
    Darkside
    Blame it on my youth

    (Just from the singles.)

Sad i'll probably never hear No heart to speak of live (a top 10 blink song for me)

Unfortunately they all suck in some way but I've settled on the last option being the least shitty.

Bands deserve to get their money, (for better or worse) TM can do dynamic pricing and facilitate the transfer of money from fans to the band, and other fans can save money on the secondary market (in theory).

I'd rather have a corporation be the bad guy in the scenario instead of someone who was able to set up bots/scripts/whatever to get as many tickets as possible for the secondary market. I don't miss the days of being at a box office with scalpers when tickets went on sale.

Love that Tom wrote that note to Matt. Really did not expect that. If he offers up any genuine praise for Skiba era songs that he likes, he's in danger of completely winning me back

I think dynamic pricing would be fine if 1) there was a cap on how high they can go, and 2) there's more transparency about what the tickets were initially priced at.

Increasing ticket price is fine, as it means ticket prices can also decrease if a show is struggling to sell. BUT to increase those ticket prices by 200% is unacceptable.
