I figured it was probably something like the album is 90% written or something and he’s just feeling great about it but they still have a decent chunk to knock out in the studio.

I may be in the minority here but to be honest I’m torn about Tom’s return. I was a big fan of Matt Skiba’s contributions to that band. He added a level of progression and maturity that the aging pop punk band needed.

I kind of wish that both Skiba and DeLonge were both in it and they made blink-182 a 4-piece, much like what Green Day did with that dude whose name nobody knows.

    Also…

Why does Tom look Chad Smith and Will Ferrell combined?

I am hopeful and agree with a lot of previous posts...these bridges are the KEY SIGN of their successful reunion. I really did love a lot of Neighborhoods - it still resonates today. However, that album showed that all of their parts were recorded separately and phoned in and they literally didn't collaborate on the bridges. Same on Dogs Eating Dogs

Yeah I believe the same session they recorded Zulu, Wrecked Him, original Waggy, original Lemmings and Good Times. Possibly Dancing With Myself and the new songs on the Buddha Sample Tape too.

Yeah definitely strange they rerecorded Waggy and Lemmings but nothing else.

Wow album must be amazing if it’s the best album they ever did and they’re not even done with it yet.

Maybe this is the album Tom was talking about in 2006 that’s going to change the world.

probably the best thing I’ve read today.
Just hoping they got into a good rhythm and aren’t afraid to step on toes or deny a bad idea. Feels like Beighborhoods was kinda like walking on eggshells around each other’s ideas.

Edit: I’m keeping the typo. Beighborhoods is the new name for me.

My hope for this album is Neighborhoods pt II. Which is good! I fully don't expect anything better

I don't feel like doing a full ranking, but I will say that Untitled and Dude Ranch are my favorites by a large margin

  19. Enema and TOYPAJ have soooo much nostalgia tied to them for me that it’s hard to not immediately think to put Enema in second behind Untitled, but in the last couple years especially, Dude Ranch is probably my most listened to. So yeah, Untitled and Dude Ranch for me too.

Mark basically confirmed this. Their original plan was to have the album out by their reunion tour in 2009 but they weren’t clicking in their studio sessions because everyone was worried about hurting the other’s feelings and saying they didn’t like something so they just stopped writing and focused on the tour instead. The recording process was a real struggle from beginning to end.

  21. Not gonna rank aggggain. But I do think the albums I’ve played the most are funny. Really skewers to when I was actually tracking albums, and when they came out, but it is a tad silly to see:

Few more months for everything to catch Cali, and then it’ll probably be more in line with what I actually listen to regularly.
