I’m gonna get hate for this but he hasn’t been good since the Wyatt Family. The Fiend was one of the worst characters that’s been shoved down our throats in quite some time. From the way his matches were booked, the goofy ass super natural stuff and the presentation of his character 95 % of the time. The cinematic match with Cena was the coolest thing they did with him and that’s not saying a much. I’ll be interested if they bring back some form of the Wyatt Family stuff. He’s serviceable enough in the ring to have good matches with guys that can carry him, but his character work is what makes him who he is.

 

I think that him removing the mask indicated that he will be more of the standard Bray Wyatt character with some occasional references/possible transformations to the others.

I think WWE needs to have a segment of gimmicks with the “supernatural” angle.

The Fiend had some great moments and a lot of potential that was ultimately wasted.

Why are some people neglecting the fact Bray suffered from awful Vince booking. Between the cell match with Seth and getting buried by Goldberg he wasn’t able to recover from that bullshit.

There is no snap judgement here! From what I saw, his gimmick is the same and his gimmick made the overall story arc and matches suck every single time in his last run. I'm using logic here! Again, I HOPE i'm wrong. I doubt I will be lol.

 

Wasn't that entire reveal at the PPV all old shit he used to do?! The singing, the masks, the house and idk, I barely skimmed through it but yall been saying Bray is 'going' to be good for like 7 years when it comes down to it hahaha.

 

Yeah? Call backs are just that. I think him being without a mask and with the lantern is pretty big clue it’s more Wyatt family than fiend but also I’m willing to just wait and see instead of making definitive statements. Daniel, did you not learn from declaring Eddie was winning the title last year?

The Fiend was fucking awesome until VKM ruined it lol - he was booked perfectly until VKM decided to throw him into the title picture

The Fiend vs Finn Balor was great

his targeting of the legends was great

his feud with The Miz was cool

the psychology against Daniel Bryan was great

it fell apart because he had to defend a title that his character should have no interest in and then VKM got bored and fed him to Goldberg and it was over

 

Even i'd be great with Finn and Danielson lmao

 

Don't look up his match ratings

when he flops again because he just isn't very good and he doesn't have the excuse of vince "holding him back" can we finally just be done with him

 

He also had a ton of stuff ready to use in terms of bringing the character into the ring, and then we got Vince's goofy ass red lighting.

Look no further than Demon Finn in NXT and fish flop Finn against Roman if you want proof of how dumb Vince can book a good character idea.

Throw in that he should have been on TV sparingly, and probably wrestled as many matches as MJF in a year, and it makes sense that it flopped.

Well it's a thread full of marks!

 

Great character work, mediocre ring work. Maybe we'll see a completely different Bray in the ring, and maybe Triple H booking will resolve the past issues, but I can't remember a single match that lived up to the promos, build and character work that lead up to it.

 

In honor of international blink day

 

I feel like the critique that bray is not good in the ring is a new. I don't remember that being a thing when the Wyatt Family and the Fiend were around, did I miss it? No shade, genuinely curious because I think Bray is average in the ring.
