Idk why everybody automatically assumes they were shitty to Matt lol. His "don't know what's going on with blink" a few months ago doesn't really mean anything, guessing he knew and couldn't say anything. I doubt Mark would be shitty to him. Mark and Travis seem pretty proud and grateful to have been so productive with Matt. They can't really control what Tom wants to do while he's back (until his next hiatus lol)

But yeah it'd be nice to hear nice things from them in the near future about Skiba's era for sure

Not that it matters much but when I saw the Trio at Riot Fest Matt seemed super happy.

Hopefully the band output doesn't screech to an halt whenever Tom has other things to do. That was one of the good thinks of being a four piece, they would be more flexible and not have to rely on Tom as much. It would also be way more interesting musically to have them collaborate. Different dynamic and all.

Matt was great. Especially when they finally let him loose on 9. But I’m glad they’re not trying to continue as a 4 piece.

That’s just for the small Pit section on stub hub. 300 level is like $100

Matt is a great musician, but at the same time the main appeal of this band to me was always the friendship between Mark and Tom, so I’m hoping this time around they just make some fun songs and Tom remains wanting to be there

it would be courteous to acknowledge the fact he kept this band alive after his lordship decided to try and invent a time travelling submarine for 7 years though.

I think people underestimate just how much this band is run as a business/brand. I'm sure there were tons of meetings over the course of the last couple of years about his involvement and what he could or couldn't say, etc.

Honestly, he didn't even seem to be part of the band since COVID hit anyway (he apparently recorded more music but it never saw the light of day), and I feel like they used the pandemic and Mark's health issues as an easy out for his lack of involvement whenever the question would come up. I just feel like at the point where they scrapped the EP, there's no way Matt didn't have at least some idea what direction they were going.

On his Discord, Mark said they've been working on this lead up for months, but nothing was "official" until 2 weeks ago.

    1. This lines up with AJ Hartley's comments
    2. This makes me think they are not done with an album, but it will eventually.

Safe to assume there's no way Tom is sharing his reunion announcement with thanking Matt at the same time. I would be surprised if Tom acknowledges the material at all, and would not be surprised if Matt performs it himself again someday with Mark and Travis. That would surprise me less than all this news tbh lol

I'm in love with the ordinary

I'd be down for a Blink (with Alk3 supporting) tour, that way Matt could come out and perform some of his Blink songs with them. Really hope they're all on good terms and he wasn't just pushed aside because Tom wants back in for now. I'm really excited about all this ... but we've been here before. I remember being so fucking stoked the first time they announced they were coming back and it all ended up being disappointing in the end. I just hope it lasts longer than a few years this time and am hoping the album comes out before the tour. Also hoping they're recording together and not separately this time too. Too many thoughts about all this, excited yet anxious for now though.

EDIT: Also wanna add that I loved the two Matt albums and what he brought to the band!

They don’t need to share today’s announcement with a public Thank You to Matt lol. So many interviews will address this in the months leading up to the tour/album.

To be fair, I'm surprised how many people are bringing Matt up, as if he'd be shocked or that he was selfless to be in Blink. It wasn't like TBS with John Nolan - Matt always seemed to be temporary until the time comes that Tom came back. I'm sure I'm not the only one that saw it that way? And I'd be shocked if Matt thought that way.

    Things have changed.

These three have a very dysfunctional relationship but always seem to find their way back to one another.

They still have many months before they embark on the tour, so they have plenty of time to get an album together. I would imagine that at this point (and with their past hang ups) that they probably have some studio time blocked off and won't pull the whole "we need to postpone the tour to finish the album" like they did with Neighborhoods lol. And hopefully they have more than one song already in the bank.

I skipped out on the past 10 pages, so maybe it's been said, but I'm guessing Matt has known since the day he was asked to join Blink-182 that this day would eventually come. I highly doubt there are bad feelings on either end.

I feel for matt but at the same time I’m sure it was a really cool experience for him and made a shit load of money.

I'm pretty sure Matt, Mark and Travis all had a great time together but that ship has come and sailed. They all got what they needed out of it. I would be shocked if Matt being in Blink for a handful of years didn't raise Alk3's profile, which is awesome. Mark and Travis got to continue the Blink name and celebrate Enema. Everybody won.

imo band wasn't really worth listening to without the original lineup, will probably check out this new stuff for the nostalgic value though

That touring schedule is intense. I wonder if they plan to finish the album before the tour starts and have it come out some time next year?
