I am VERY drunk and ended up like 3 rowd in front for the goal but BOOOOOOOOY what a win.

Some interesting refereeing. Tsimikas should have been sent off, and the Gabriel handball was dodgy but blasted at him from 3 yards so not sure what the law says about that now.

Overall we deserved it. Still winning, still playing well, still top of the league!

But hey I guess we’ve still not played a good team yet so who knows….

why is that handball?? What a fucking joke.

 

they need to release a rules explainer as if we are all 5 years old because nothing makes sense or appears consistent

 

If the handball against Ansu vs Inter is a handball, that’s an easy handball call

 

But Scamacca earlier wasn’t a handball and this is the same competition. Refs are making it up game by game.

 

It's the inconsistency. If that's a handball by the rules, then fine. I don't agree, but call it, and call it every time it happens. But for it to be a coinflip as to whether it's called, that's what gets me.

The fact there's like, what, 3 or 4 different calls just today, no fan has a clue what's going on. Handball is just a lottery right now.

 

Yep, under the rules it should be disallowed. But VAR and the refs seem to just be choosing when and where to apply the rules at their own discretion. West Ham had two goals given earlier for far more egregious handballs than Rashford’s this evening.

even smaller things like McTominay’s booking for standing on Gray’s toe. Garner literally did the exact same about 90 seconds earlier and there was no booking.

 

Until refs are held publicly accountable and lose their jobs with enough bad decisions OR points are awarded post match to offset reffing errors, nothing will change. I’m actually greatly in favor of awarding points to offset reffing errors (without penalizing the other team because they just did what the ref allowed them to do), but doubt it would be a popular change to the game.

 

I also think teams should be allowed to refuse certain refs from reffing their games.

 

Just mic the refs and VAR up when they're making decisions. It happens in loads of other sports. There's always going to be human error, but let us hear the justification and decision making process. The fact it's so secretive makes the problem so much worse.
