I need an update on what Larys has been up to for the past six years.

I haven't been watching any of the episode previews but I always look forward to seeing him lurk about

 

Honestly love these podcasts because Chris Ryan is the perfect stand-in for the semi casual fan/non-book reader. His recaps to start the episode are hilarious — “Daemon chops his head off, continuing the trend of unprosecuted knife crime in King’s Landing.”

 

Rhanerya is half siblings with Aemond and Aegon, therefore making them the uncles to her children. Not sure why that's confusing.

 

It's probably mostly Viserys' age that throws it all off....even I forgot a few times in the scenes they were in that he's actually aegon/aemond's father and not their grandfather lol

 

I feel like we need to get at least SOME sort of time jump, maybe not until next season, but like.... Aegon and Helaena haven't had any kids yet that we know of, certainly haven't been mentioned unless I missed it...and they're kind of important to the start of the war.

 

I have some thoughts about that character who i think we saw in the preview. 1) If that is indeed Gaemon and if that is indeed Larys talking about Gaemon, i'm wondering if we're going to see Larys protecting Gaemon and his mother for his use in the future (if you read the book you know what use that is). 2) I actually never really seriously considered that Gaemon could be a legitimate Targ bastard while reading the book, and had just assumed his moms were lying. If the show does reveal that Gaemon is the actual bastard son of Aegon II, then that adds a whole other emotional layer the eventual close friendship between Gaemon and Aegon III that i never thought about < future show speculation based on major book spoilers

Helaena at one point asks her mother where the maid is because "she's supposed to dress the children"

helaena comes into the room during the scene where alicent is yelling at aegon and mentions the kids need to be clothed

 

Interesting, I must have just missed it. I hope everyone else picked up on it or they're gonna be super confused when those kids show up haha

 

i thought it was just another maid the first time i watched but after seeing helaena more clearly during the dinner, it was pretty clear it’s her on rewatch

 

I had this happen last week when he was demanding to know who called Jace/Luke bastards. After the episode I was like “oh shit! That’s his own kid he’s yelling at! And he’s looking at his mom! Oh shit, and she’s married to Viserys, that’s right!” lmao

i honestly watch the show but don’t watch super carefully since I read the books so I know the story but don’t really remember it so I’m kind of the casual viewer who remembers what’s coming up at some points but not any of the details of how we get there lol

 

for some reason I thought she was referring to Rhaenyra’s kids but probably because I thought this was just another maid as well and not Helaena and/or we saw R’s infants just before this scene maybe idk it all blurs together

Was absolutely fist pumping so hard when Viserys came into the throne room. Then with his speech at the dinner. Give him the Emmy

 

Aegon II is giving me some Gerard Way vibes in this episode for some reason.

 

I was watching an episode 8 reaction video where they said Aemond looks like a Final Fantasy villain and now I can't unsee it.
