IIRC Tom made comments on what he would want blink to sound like in an interview earlier this year. I have faith they'll make the best blink album they're capable of making right now, and a lot rests on what producer they go with. IDK, I've got a good feeling about it.

 

Old enough to remember people calling American Pie blink overproduced. Heh.

 

The key factor is having a producer, which is what leads me to believe this round will be better than the Neighborhoods reunion.

 

Since we’re close to the eve of the reunion part 2, I decided to go back and watch some live videos from 2013/2014. They really sounded good during these shows compared to the 2009-2010 disasters lol

However, I had to punish myself and play Down at the Weenie Roast 2006 for good times sake.

 

Old enough to remember people calling American Pie “East Great Falls High” before it came out and hearing blink would be in the movie too!

I really dislike AVA but I enjoyed Neighborhoods and DED more than Nine so I'm very curious to see what the future brings us

 

Listen to “Automatic” by AVA and that should help get you a little more excited

 

Yeah I'm personally hoping that they kind of just continue where Neighborhoods left off along with some of the Lifeforms sound. So more mature music but still with the classic pop-punk/punk influences

I'm sure the first single back will have vocals from both of them but I wonder how they'll spread out the vocals now that Tom is back. Skiba era had dual vocals on literally every song, I wonder if they'll go back to like 80/20 Tom/Mark again

 

I really hope not. As much as I like those albums, the split and shared vocals of the Skiba era (as a huge Mark fan) would make me very happy.

 

Give me as close to 50/50 as possible

 

Yeah, I think the Skiba era is what they should model the vocal split on. Pretty much perfect.

 

80/20 Tom is a massive non starter for me lol

 

Had Lifeforms on repeat while finishing up some work tonight. Really hoping he takes the creative energy and inspiration from those sessions and keeps it going with Blink. It hadn't occurred to me but the first reunion took place during the LOVE era. Even Tom himself says that AVA was creatively at a low point and needed a big change. He has since said Lifeforms was his personal favorite album to create.

A lot of inferring, but between the three of them (Tom getting remarried and falling back in love with making music, Mark going through treatment and coming out on the other side, Travishaving an unreal amount of very successful producing, remarrying, and getting over his fear of flying) let cross our fingers all of that intense change and growth will be poured into new music.

The only thing I would change on Lifeforms is to swap fire in a nameless town for all that's left is love. Not his best album ever but a fun and interesting listen and his personal best in a long time.

There seems to be room for a Sweden date before Copenhagen. Or I might just go to Berlin or Glasgow (again) since it's on a Saturday. They haven't been here since 2000 and cancelled all of the Nordic dates for the California tour so they better make up for it!

blink coming to NZ would be absolutely massive. They haven't been here since like 2000/2001? And i think they cancelled their only non-BDO show 'cause Travis was sick or somethiing.

Unpopular opinion but I'm a big fan of California but don't like Nine.

I liked Neighborhoods but DED was their return to form after the first reunion. I was devastated when Tom left after DED showed so much potential.

I'm so excited to hear what the new stuff will be like with Tom back in the band.

I'm looking forward to new music (the tour will probably not reach me but I will try to travel for it) but I will be bummed out if Skiba is out. I really want a four piece.
