Just want to remind everyone the best mario game is Galaxy

 

Best Mario game is paper Mario purely for my personal nostalgia

I believe the fact that Lost Levels was basically a DLC pack was another factor in the Doki Doki Panic reskin, as there was concern about the Japanese SMB2 not being a visual upgrade over the original SMB.

The development section on Wiki tells the whole story. Besides the difficulty, Mario 2 was also coming out at a time when Nintendo was still trying to grow in the Western market, and Mario 3 was being worked on for Japan, so there was a real worry about putting something out that was visually outdated.

The irony is that Doki Doki Panic started out as a vertically-based prototype until Miyamoto suggested they add more Mario-style gameplay to the mix for the final product. So the game was retooled to be a Mario-like even before anyone suggested retooling it into an official Mario game.

Anyone pick up No Man's Sky for the Switch? I'm curious to see the overall experience with how it runs on the switch.

 

I picked it up but haven’t gotten much time to play, also wanted to wait for the 4.0 update to go live on switch. So far though, performance is really solid.

Edit: accidentally deleted the rest of my response, other than the visual downgrade and lack of multiplayer, it doesn’t feel like I’m playing a much lesser version of the game

 

turned on Smash Ult for the first time in ages. gotta get re-used to my control layout for the Switch. for some reason it won't recognize that i'm using a Gamecube controller and shows it as a Pro Controller (had to readjust the button mapping)

You mean the video where he said that mobile games try to scam you out of money? Because that isn't exactly inaccurate

 

No one disagrees with that, it’s the example of using that game and the disingenuousness he uses in that video. He’s wrong constantly and he's huge so it’s definitely going to hurt people who actually have legitimate critiques with the game, the people who stream it and any competitive future possibilities. It’s not a pay to win game and there are so many games that actually are, it was just a really bad choice.

I’m glad he did but he also said he stood by it being pay to win, unfortunately. The subject of free to play games is definitely worthy of a video like that. He could’ve went buckwild on Diablo for two hours lol that game is pay to win out the wazoo haha

 

I have no nostalgia with Mario. Odyssey and Galaxy are my favorites.

 

I remember thinking Super Mario Sunshine will be the peak of GameCube
