@Jason Tate do you know if Matt is still in the band or not? I’m not asking you to say yes or no. Just curious if your sources have given any indication or will the official announcement be a surprise to you?

 

Biggest unanswered question remains: will Tom even play any songs that Matt wrote

 

I’m just glad that Tom switched over to using Kempers (or Axe FX… forget which one) so we’ll actually get good live guitar tones again. It sounded great on the last AVA tours and I’m excited to hear a more umphy tone back with blink. The 09-14 era was horrendous tones.

 

Pretty much have already revisited Neighborhoods to death earlier this year, so been playing through Lifeforms again - what a blast.

I still stand by Spellbound being the most Blink-worthy song (can just hear Mark singing the lower answer vocals).

 

If it's a super amenable "split" between Matt and the guys where everyone is on good and understanding terms, then in theory a Blink/Alk3 tour where Matt makes a "guest appearance" for 2-3 songs from the matt era could work. Trio just adds a Dan song or two to their set in place of some Matt ones to save his voice a bit haha

That’s how I feel about Automatic. I could definitely hear mark doing backups on that one. But Automatic is essentially the same song as This is Home so…

 

Man I definitely could see Will Yip doing wonders on a blink record. The way he records bands is amazing. He’s got some great secrets. Talked to him about his techniques on a podcast not that long ago. I love seeing how much he’s evolved over the years.

I know the answer to who is part of the upcoming tour. I don’t know if the band themselves have decided beyond that tbh.

 

That's why I think it could be an untitled anniversary tour. That way nobody expects Matt songs.

I’m also sure Matt’s not so upset about getting wealthy in a way he would have never sniffed prior to doing blink for a few years

 

I don’t known if anyone has mentioned it, but if they make new music, they should get Rob Cavallo.

 

If I had to make a list of producers I’d want them to work with, he’s on the shortlist for me.

 

How do they do that set list? Do they do it TBS 10 year TAYF style where they start off with the “hits” then have a small interlude before moving into the album? Or do they do album first than a long encore of the hits?

 

Reallyyyy crossing my fingers they keep Matt on… I’ll be far less excited if they just replace him with Tom.

 

Hoping they keep Matt on AND hoping it’s an Untitled tour.

 

Obviously I’m reading way too into the response but I’m thinking Matt is going to be part of the tour to see how things are and how the play together as a 4 piece and go from there.

Of course I’m also reading it as “it’s the 3 of them” and they haven’t decided about Matt.

I guess we will find out soon enough.

 

any time ive seen a full album show, it’s the latter. Start with the album and then after the encore come out for hits. That’s how they did it on the enema tour.

 

The first part is how I want to read it lol. Keeping Matt would keep them consistent with Tom inevitably dropping in and out

I remember the website imploding when they released the Feeling This version that was in Madden (I think?) as their initial "first listen" of anything from the untitled album and the boards just going nuts.
