I wonder if Andrade wasn't Charlotte's partner, who they likely didn't want to risk pissing off, would they have released him as he wanted. I could see her using her stroke to make that happen.

I also don't think Vince would have valued him as highly as Tony values Aleister. He may not have put a strap on him, but I think he has a lot of respect for Black and wanted him on TV as much as his body would allow. Plus I've had the impression that a separation from wrestling is what he wants/needs right now - not specifically a separation from AEW. So Tony would definitely be best served giving him all the time he needs rather than release him outright.

 

I think the important distinction is that the long-term contracts are guaranteed in some sports irrespective of whether you're traded or released (e.g. baseball, basketball), compared to NFL or wrestling where you're almost guaranteed to lose money if they kick you to the curb early.
