I understand thinking that Paris is an outlier sonically, but it’s also the most fun pop punk they’ve put out in almost a decade so I think it can stay

This is probably a weird “complaint,” but Paris almost just sounds too happy for this record lol

it adds some badly needed levity, and even then they throw in a dead sibling

Paris is the perfect love letter to Philly and it makes me miss it so bad. I go back to that song way too much.

Idk I think Paris is just a more embarrassing version of We Could Die Like This, which is one of my favorite songs on TGG. And I live here!

  6. Paris is probably up there with my favourite songs on the record and I had no idea it'd be this divisive lol

I actually really like doors into Wyatt, but I wish doors didn’t fade out and just led right into Wyatt’s song

I also revisited NCTH this week and I think that clarified my thoughts on this one. This feels like a better version of that record, where it stills feels like a half step, but at least this record doesn’t sound like a wonder years cover band

I feel the same way about Doors/Wyatt. Very good together but would be better without the fade out.

someone in this thread mentioned NCTH is amazing back-to-back until Stained Glass so I revisited it a bunch this week and I agree. I think the album would be my favorite from them if you cut Stained and January, and honestly even Thanks for the Ride. There’s other tiny resequencings I’d want to try, but other than that, I feel like it would be very strong as a 10 song record

I've only listened up Hum for like a week, so I decided to go back and listen to NCTH this morning. Whyyyy does this album have to sound so bad? Even Brothers & at the beginning just doesn't hit as much as it can because it sounds so bad.

I’m so excited Pittsburgh is the first show next week because I’ll have no idea what the set list is.

Nah it's bad, and they somehow made Jason sound bad.

This is what happens when you put an unbelievably awful feature on your song.

Niche TWY fact: Old Friends like Lost Teeth is the first penultimate-song-to-the-record since Suburbia that doesn’t mention the word “home” in it.

Slightly less of an interesting coincidence is that Palm Reader is the only penultimate song since TGG that doesnt mention the word “alone”

I never see anyone talking about Cigarettes being out of place in between I Don’t Like Who I Was Then and The Bluest Things On Earth - sure neither are as light hearted as Paris Of Nowhere but it’s a very similar run.

I personally feel the sequencing issue is overblown, however I get that this is subjective

I think it's made worse by people knowing Yip did those three songs and Evetts did the rest

Jason is the best part of the song, Evetts did him and the rest of the song/album zero favors

Jason is a phenomenal vocalist who sounds awful on a bad song. But it’s far from the worst on the album
